Not only the horizontal Magenta swath but also numerous vertical black bars have Magenta smears or oversprays that appear exclusively to the right of the vertical bars, and, also around the letters PBK, C and the "Y" of GY. These Magenta smears/oversprays also appear to be similar in height (vertical axis) or location as the defect in the Magenta horizontal swath.

A scan of the whole image printed in standard quality.
Your full image scan appears to show macro banding as if the entire width of the nozzles are involved. There is some variability in the banding that becomes more prominent the closer you look to the right upper portion of the image.

The cropped image you posted earlier shows smaller and more distinct banding that does end with full width nozzles in the right upper corner. I do not see these smaller bands in this new full size image ,at least so prominently. Could these smaller bands be artifact from scanning?

No, they are visible. They are larger but less contrasted (and visible) since the last print was in standard quality.
The first with the very visible smaller bands was printed in high quality.

Yes, but since all smears are magenta other colors are not involved IMO.

I agree Magenta appears to be the only cartridge involved so far. By posting the complete nozzle check we are able to see the greater extent of the issue.

The overspray of Magenta is not symmetric - it does not occur with all vertical black bars or abbreviations for the names of the colors, OR to the same extent when it does occur.

Does your printer have a Timing Strip. If so, try cleaning it.

Have you tried a new Magenta cartridge?

I replaced the (octoinkjet) magenta with OEM and the problem seems to be solved.
By testing with plain M and C sheets in high quality no banding was seen.
Most probably the banding in the dark blue sky discussed before was caused by the magenta starting to give less feed.
This printer is barely used (< 300 sheets), the timing strip can't be the cause (seldom had problems with it).

No panic.

Will discuss with ink provider and follow the situation.

Glad to hear it!

Does this mean both the banding AND nozzle check issues are resolved?

The question remains ink or cartridge was the problem.
