Hi @rodbam, it’s very annoying when the head goes west in an instant, but like you, none of my efforts were successful at bring it back to life, (Pissing up a rope), it’s not caused by an ink clog but more like an over heating issue that does the damage, or a deliberate time out.

When you get missing colour blocks in your nozzle check, there’s always a chance of getting them back, but if you get some half blocks of colour as seen in this Pic, then it’s mostly always fatal.

Good luck in your quest for a new Pro 10 and redsetter, and when you have forked out all that cash, you’ll find the new printer won’t produce Photos any better than your trusty old 9500 did..

In the good old days nozzle checks of Canon printers showed the output of individual nozzles, either in normal operation or in service mode. This way you could see easily if it was or not an electrical failure. Nowadays they print a solid rectangle where you can’t distinguish which nozzle is which, so to speak, and a single clog or electrical failure is impossible to detect. I recall that my deceased Pro9000 always printed perfect test stripes in regular nozzle checks, while in service mode some colors showed sometimes as much as 10 to 20 blocked nozzles.

Hell is to your west? Due West of Ireland is Canada. Is Canada the location of Irish Hell? I had my suspicions that Canadian friendliness was all a ruse!

The deeper dive into the origin of the phrase "going South" may be that Hell has been thought to be down below in the Earth while Heaven is up above in the "heavens" (sky). Since the direction "South" is represented as being in the downward direction, as opposed to North as the upward direction, "going South" is heading into or already being in trouble.

Going "West" in the States conjures up our pioneering spirit and hope for a better life. But it is a matter of perspective. For instance, going West may have imbued similar thoughts for the Vikings in their conquests but the opposite sentiments for the Britains who fought the Vikings.

Is it that so many fisherman have lost their lives in the ocean that your culture's Hell, or trouble, is below the waters and not the core of the Earth?

This discussion is getting way beyond me, it’s simply like this, if you swim West, you’re not coming back, just like a knackered print head and it’s got nothing to do with our Canadian Neighbours either, so why bring them into it.
P.S. Statistically speaking more fisherman die on land than on the sea..

That looks the same problem Hat, that's a real bugger. I will have to use my pro9000 while I have a long think about paying $700 (list $900) & about $80 for a new redsetter & new refilling inks. Gawd the costs are mounting a.

Hi Rod, I’d love to send you my spare new head, because I don’t use my 9500 all that much, but it might expose me to the same dilemma your facing now, it’s tempting..
