Is all canon inks same?

i went to the local ink store today and told them the model number of my cartridge (which is pg545) and they said "all the canon inks are same you dont need that model number" and gave me some ink. i didnt inject that ink in cartridge yet. is it true or not?

So what was the ink the store sold you, was it a bottle of black ?

Curious..... So there's nothing written on the bottle at all. It's just full of some black substance, presumably ink.

well he is a family friend, i don't think he will lie at me. i just wonder is all types of canon inks same ?

Hi @cemkalaur, the answer is no they are not all the same, Canon make a wide range of inks for their different printer models, they may look the same, but the colours will vary depending on the model, some printers use all dye inks, some use pigment and dye and some others use all pigment inks.

If this 3rd party ink is recommended for use in Canon printers then it should be safe enough, but if its for use in all types of inkjet printers (Universal) then don’t use it, go and buy it somewhere else...

Thank you. He said that its not for HP or anything just for canon. i have another question i just bought my printer and used it a little bit, however i heard canon does not send full cartridges with printer. should i refill it now or wait until its nearly empty
