"Pearl" is the surface finish for Ilford papers. Their Galerie Classic (pearl and gloss) are swellable papers.

I made the same experience with Inktec bulk ink. They fade away within weeks, although gave me good results when profiled.

The german computer magasine ct just published a test about third party inks (german language)

for longevity the gave ratings from ++ / + / 0 / - / --: canon got "+" for longevity, Inktec "--" the best others received "0", for example compedo.

I like these canon printers a lot, but I still don't know what ti fill in them ;-) any recommendations?

Pearl is not white. You better profile your ink with the paper. You may have a tint if not profiled.
