Ink Evaporiation and Light Exposure

Any tricks for preventing ink evaporation and pigment fading due to exposure to light?

Or is the obvious solution of "Put a box over it and "close the ports when you're not using it" the best options?

Not sure I understand what it is you are asking. Do you mean ink on the printer or what?

pigment fading due to light ? I presume you mean dye ink: pigment ink is pretty stable in light.
