Just bought a new pro-100. During installation I accidently held down the orange light button for over 10 seconds. The ink detection is NOT working any longer. I've uninstalled the drivers, changed the carts, unplugged the printer itself- nothing is making my ink detection respond. It's always at 100% for every color even after I've printed 20+ full color prints! I am resetting the carts with a chip resetter from Precision colors every refill, also.
Are the carts just permanently registered as full, despite a reset?

This is currently what I'm seeing. I was on the phone with Canon and I was just told to reinstall the drivers. I can't wait another 45 minutes on hold for (not so much) help. Plus, they're closed now.

I think you need to purchase a new set of OEM Canon cartridges to enable ink detection again. Afterwards, you’ll be able to reuse the first set and the printer will recognize them as genuine and ink detection will be enabled, even if the carts have been resetted.

That said, take my opinion with a few grains of salt. I’m just guessing based on information of users at forums, but I don’t recall another case like yours when ink detection was disabled during the installation. This is unexplored territory because the carts that come with a new printer are special setup units, and the Pro-100 is able to tell the difference with ordinary Canon carts, so who knows for sure what will happen.

I would ignore the on screen ink indication for the foreseeable future, I don’t know why you’d ever want to hold down the Resume button for 10 seconds, because that’s a new one on me..

Give it a couple of weeks and the ink levels will drop dramatically in one foul swoop, and besides when one or more of your carts become low, the printer will show the yellow explanation mark, and everything will be back to normal..

P.S. messing around with your printer is never a good thing..
