How often should I use a Canon inkjet to ensure nozzles don't become clogged?

Cropped nozzle check appears :thumbsup

If using Canon IJ Scan Utility you can try setting Document scanning "Image Processing Settings" to nothing else on except "Reduce Moire" with or without "Sharpen Outline" (try both ways)
Yes I do use the Canon IJ Scan Utility. I will look at this, many thanks. Nozzle check with sharpen outline on:

Nozzle check with sharpen outline on:
Which image best represents what you see with the printed image on paper - Sharpen ON or Sharpen OFF?

Are both images with the setting Reduce Moire ON?

Thanks for the feedback and nice job getting your print head restored to function!

Thanks a lot. There is little perceptible difference in the image quality with sharpen outline on or off. It looks as though selecting 'reduce moire' makes the difference.

Yet another question! Does the page count at the bottom of the nozzle check printout have any meaning? Is it the total number of pages the printer has printed since purchase?

Ok good. I definitely haven't reset it. This allows me to calculate my cost per page. Works out at about 19c per page. Apparently not unusual for these kind of printers. When calculating my costs, I included costs of all cartridges, paper (standard A4 and photo paper), the cleaning fluid kits, and the replacement printhead I purchased in 2019, but not the original printer hardware cost itself. The printer takes a fair bit of maintenance when using non-OEM ink cartridges but I can't complain too much, when it is operating optimally the print quality is up to photo shop levels.
