I'm from the UK and I've been using Hobbicolors ink for some time but with the poor exchange rate and the worry over Customs & PO hitting you with VAT and collection rates, I'm attracted to purchasing from the UK

Octoink (www.octoink.co.uk) are selling image specialists ink at reasonable prices but is it as good or better than Hobbicolors?

Anyone experienced both?

This is a no-brainer: order from octoink. You can then do your own comparison but I think you will find them both excellent.

I have used both and have settled with Image Specialists. If profiling, both would be great but found that IS inks are closer to OEM without profiling. I found IS pigment to be superior - bleeding was a problem with Hobbicolors.

Epson, Canon, HP... A "few"
... and just to add yet more confusion, don't forget that the KMP Universal pigment black is becoming quite popular too...

Right.. family time... Have a good weekend all.

I have used image specialists ink before using Hobbicolors. I stayed away from image specialists ink since I switched over. Watch for clogging if you use image specialists ink if you need to print continuously large photos in particular. You will need to run a lot of cleaning cycles to keep the print head from clogging. I have never had any clogging issues with Hobbicolors ink. Hobbicolors ink is more vibrant to my eyes too. I am all for vivid colors on ultra glossy papers. It is also cheaper to buy Hobbicolors. Whatever you choose to buy just don't fall to the attractions from cheap junk.

This is the first I've heard that Image Specialists has a clogging issue.

Never had clogging problems with Hobbicolors, InkTec, or Image Specialists. Been refilling my MP830 and i9900 for over 3 years, the last two with IS.
