I have used image specialists ink before using Hobbicolors. I stayed away from image specialists ink since I switched over. Watch for clogging if you use image specialists ink if you need to print continuously large photos in particular. You will need to run a lot of cleaning cycles to keep the print head from clogging.
Like the others, I'm curious regarding this...

I've certainly had some issues with inks (including Image Specialists) where something akin to clogging has occurred but the problems usually revolved around things like:
- Ink age
- Storage conditions (ie: too hot/cold creating algae, etc...)
- Lack of flushing
- Ink foaming (particularly in Epson CIS carts, etc..)
- Use in a Canon CIS (poor pressure balance, etc...)
... and more besides...

All of those are things that can happen with any ink..

Whatever you choose to buy just don't fall to the attractions from cheap junk.
I'd certainly agree with that...

More info on the IS inks would be appreciated though...

I have never had any clogging issues with Hobbicolors ink. Hobbicolors ink is more vibrant to my eyes too. I am all for vivid colors on ultra glossy papers. It is also cheaper to buy Hobbicolors. Hobbicolors is more expensive in the UK because of the shipping charges

Another excellent ink to consider is OCP, they are in Germany and have an excellent rep/sales in the US.

I have used several 3rd party inks during the last decade but settled into OCP in for my Canon 9xxx's (s9000,i9900 and Pro 9000). OCP also supplies pigment inks for Epson & Canon. In addition, I use their dye in my wife's Epson R280.

I print landscapes and panos, but not professionally, the OCP color output is superb and the dye ink cost of $12/pint is very well priced. I also profile my various ink-paper combos, no difficulties so far. No Clogging!

Image Specialties and Hobbicolors are fine inks, I would have no hesitation using any of these 3 inks.

good luck irv weiner
