In my case, I am not turning in carts that fit any printer I own, but ones that I have scrounged from various sources. I usually redeem the carts for school and office supplies, batteries, etc. and seldom pay more than 50 cents out of pocket for $15+ of merchandise (as I noted previously, I can turn in 5/day at OfficeMax). Some lots of empty carts have recently brought $4-5 per on ebay, but many more IME have sold for $1-2/cart. I probably will try to sell a lot of Epson carts, since they are not accepted for credit at the stores, and will also ask our local PTO how much the school is getting for their carts; 10 cents per is clearly ridiculous. But no, it doesn't bother me that OfficeMax is getting a hefty markup on their refilled carts - they are providing some competition for the printer companies (though I hear that they are about to end the redemption offer in favor of their refilling service). If the business is that lucrative, we'll see more entrants undercutting the office supply companies, and prices will continue to fall. Maybe some enterprising refillers will even offer maintenance contracts to corporate ink users to keep their tanks full.

Regards,
Tony
