Looks like i'll be nabbing a stylus pro 4000

Am I crazy? I should get it right? Sounds like the printhead has some clogs.

What do ya'll have to say about it?

Get a service manual first, get to the printhead and then take off the dampers , you may replace them , the filters inside tend to clog, and flush the nozzles with a syringe and a piece of tube. You may as well clean the purge station at this time.

Good advice from Ink Stained Fingers.
I have two Stylus Pro 4000 printers. They are built like tanks, but are clog queens unless they are used often. One nice feature about the Pro 4000 is that MK and PK ink is always available - no ink wasting switching for a black ink change. The trade off is this printer does not have LLK ink.

Technically yes, but do you think that you actually see that in actual prints ? Are you doing your own profiles ?

Anyways, speaking of inks. This thing needs a fill before I can play with it too much more. cleared a blockage in the yellow line and am taking the dampers out now to have a looksee.

I'm intending to run 220ml refillable carts and buy 1l bottles of InkTec K3 PowerChrome inks. But right now im trying to decide an economical way forward. I have no idea what shape the printhead is in, so I don't see any sense buying a ton of ink just yet.

Can I just refill these carts? ( have bypassed ink counters in firmware) Im thinking maybe fill them with distilled water? Or maybe diluted simple green? Windex?

A home brew alternative to piezoflush would be great (pharmacists solution i think I'll do that). This printer was another freebie like the DJ500 so im trying to push forward to validate function before throwing money at it.

You can refill the Epson carts, as they do not have one way valves, like the carts for current Epson pro printers.

I do not see the lack of LLK ink in the resultant prints, however, I am creating my own profiles.

You will probably need a resetter to reset the chips on Epson carts. Also some 60 ml syringes (slip luer type).
