I just replaced the printhead on my Epson 1500W (Similar to the 1430 USA version). Using the adjustment programe, I attempted to enter the special 24 digit Head ID. Then I get an error, "Its invalid Head ID. Input is not done".

I have tried replacing the number "0" in the last line with the letter "O" but the code is still not accepted. I also tried turning the printer off and on and restarting the adjustment programe but that didn't help.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a solution? Your advice would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Chris

I found a solution. I came to the conclusion there might be a problem with the adjustment programe I was using.

Following the advice of a friend I downloaded the free WIC utility.*

https://www.wic.support/download/

This utility can perform many free functions including inputting the head ID, back up the eprom firmware, etc. Go to File/Functions/Enable advanced functions. Then click on the "Control" tab and scroll down to head ID.

I successfully input the correct head ID and it worked the first time without any errors.**

Kind regards

Chris

* It can also reset the waste ink counters free to 90-95% of the full value. The catch is for some printers, you have to buy a reset key to reset the waste ink counters to zero.

It can also downgrade the firmware (in case new firmware prevents the use of third party carts). I think the Epson 1430 USA version has this problem. You have to buy a reset key to do this.

** I also used the WIC utility to reset the name of the printer from Epson 1430 to Epson 1500. Normally, you would never need to do something like this. The problem was I previously used the wrong adjustment programe to initialise the printer, and it changed the name from Epson 1500 (correct) to Epson 1430 (wrong) which caused Windows driver recognition errors. Now the name has been corrected, it's working fine.
