The Hobbicolors web site is very limited in info (no ordering info, no pricing) and the e-mail addresses for contacting them don't work. Am I in a twilight zone, or, do they make (and sell) a range of products that would include carts for the Canon MP560 (CLI-22X series)?

If you were a long time customer you would not have said that. They had a very good ink called WC6 before. I used it on several printers with BCI-6 ink cartridges. It was one very excellent alternative ink source at the time when the MIS Associates dominated the market with Image Specialists ink. I still have a fresh memory how expensive the ink they sell was. I think WC6 ink is no longer sold by Hobbicolors. I believe that ink may still exist carried by other sellers. Hobbicolors does have only UW8 ink today plus their pigment black ink called PMT-BK. There have been reports on this forum that UW8 ink works well on ip4700 and mp560 (CLI-221 ink cartridge). I am not an expert in ink formulation. I can't explain why Hobbicolors UW8 ink works well on old and new Canon printers without tossing the color balance off. I don't care about black and white accuracy. I like more vibrant colors. The UW8 ink is more vibrant than Canon OEM inks. This is like Kodak's Portra NC and Portra VC films. One has slightly muted colors and the other just more vibrant. I am one who likes VC over NC films. Kodak Digital cameras too have NC and VC modes.

The HC UW-8 is very good indeed, much better than the Inktec CLI-8 ink, which is however much closer to the original Canon CLI-8 ink, but tends to fade incredibly fast compared to Hobbicolors UW-8 ink. It also produces very vivid colours, which is much appreciated by many people.

Wow, great information, all around! Thanx, gh, iP, leo, and pharm.

Is kbay2002, on ebay, the only source for Hobbicolors inks?

Your suggestion to someone in another thread, ghwellsjr, to buy a second printer as a back-up and source of a second set of ink tanks encouraged me to order a second MP560. The printer, with shipping, is only $77US, total. So, for less than the cost of two sets of Canon inks, I get a back-up printhead and full set of inks, plus, a brand new back-up printer should something happen to the MP560 like it did to my MP810 for which I had purchased a new printhead that ended up not working because something else is wrong inside the printer.

Also, gh, I found the link you provided (thread 5329) to be engrossing and educational. You colorblind guys have given me a perspective on that malady that I hadn't had. Thanx!

But, back to the question: Is ebay the only source you guys know of?

kbay2002 IS Hobbicolors inks. That is his storefront. If you have any questions e-mail him, he always responds very quickly. I have ordered a few times from him now and he always ships very quickly.

What did I say that you disagree with?
