Dare I buy a Canon IP3000? For photo printing, refilling cartridges

Ok George I printed two copies straight from Nifty with no interference from any photo editing.

Frankly I dont think you would see the differences if I were to scan them both so
if you PM me with an address I will post them to you and that way you can visually compare the two
originals yourself in hand side by side, wouldnt that be a better way to judge.

If not Ill scan them both and post them up for you..

Please post it in the forum, I am interested as well. The first thing I did when I bought an iP3300 was to print a photo and the difference in black (using original cartridges) was clearly evident.

Also, for some reason the properties window you've pasted above is grainy. This isn't supposed to happen. Simply pressing ALT+Scroll Lock copies the active window to the clipboard without any grain.

I agree with panos. When I had an iP3000, I printed the same photograph (with a large dark area) on it and on an iP4000. The difference was clear, although not enough to be objectionable.

Look, I never said the guy shouldn't buy an iP3000, I just wanted to point out this issue in photo printouts since he specifically asked about using it for photo printing.

As a point of reference, many HP printers that use two cartridges with built-in print heads, provide an option where you can replace the pigment black cartridge with a "photo" cartridge that includes a dye ink photo black (as well as a lighter magenta and cyan) to improve the photo printouts. It's the same issue here. Many people will be perfectly happy with a photo print using three colors and may be totally unaware of the improvement available with the photo black. I just wanted make the OP aware before it was to late, just in case it might matter to him.
