it seems there exists an MP tool similar to the iP tools.

I downloaded the MP tool, and It was accepted by both AVG Internet Security and Malwarebytes Antimalware.

I wonder if the MP tool can reset the ink absorbers or ink cartridges? According to the service manuals the absorber counters for MP160 and MP170 are reset using service mode operations like those for BCI-3e/6 and PGI-5/CLI-8 printer models.

The service manual for MP160 is found here, and you also need the service manual for MP150 as this is the base model and the MP160 service manual is only supplementary. A service manual for MP170 and MP450 is found here.

It looks like these MP models have both a service mode and a low level mode. The low level mode looks to be used with the MP tool.

What was it you tried and were unable to do?

To be clear, when you say it did not do anything as it should, did you try everything the tool supposedly is capable of doing with a printer it claims to work with?

MP 160
The reset waste counter option is all time gray
Ink reset Black works and show 100% after reseting. But when you do reset Color you get C 100% M 100% Y 100% but Black is back at 0%
If you do repeat Black reset then you get
B 100% C 0% Y100% M 100%

And if you go to Driver status Monitor, nothing has changed You do still have ! over cartridges


Also iP Tool does not work with iP 1900
But this MP Tool do have Read and Write function for EEPROM but this function only works with MP 160. Sp I would need some different tool if we want to copy a EEPROM from iP 1800 and copy it in iP 1900

Thank you for the information. It seems these tools are hit and miss.
