I just found a nice looking s900 to add to my collection of BCI 6 cart Canon printers.
It printed on all, but on the yellow it doesn't quite get all the grid printed on the test print.

I processed it today - the big clean - and discovered the prior owners had forgotten to remove the tape for the cartridge air vent, so no wonder it was giving them problems.

I ran Windex thru the head, and this is where I have a question.

Prior times I've cleaned a printer, when the water or windex doesn't flow through the head for a color it has seemed that the head is finished.
What do you guys think when you come across that situation? Do you think "Yeah I've got a chance at fixing this", or do you say "Oh no, it's broken"?

The next question is:
What are all the things that could cause this?

The jets could be clogged.
The tubing from the head inlet mesh to the nozzles could be clogged.
The inlet mesh could be clogged with dried ink.

Can a burnt out nozzle stop the flow?

Is there anything else that could block the flow of fluid through the head?

I ran windex through this s900, and I've loaded all the carts with windex. I ran several cleanings and now I'm just going to let it sit for a few days.

Is it OK to leave Windex/Ammonia D in the head, or should I soak it with pure water instead?

As it was trying to print on Yellow, and it's fairly clear it's probably a recent problem (Air vent tape on cart) I'm hoping I've got a chance of fixing it.

Thanks
