Thanks once again. Due to current medical problems. I do not feel confident that I can strip the whole printer down, and not really got suitable area to do so. This head will have to take its chance. Put in a new Photo Black/ink. New scan attached. I print few photos these days mostly web searches and downloads for items of interest. Will however keep a close eye on the parking station and ensure it is kept clean without any old ink build up. I think my next Printer if this one fails with be an Epson or a Brother which are hopefully more durable. I have a back up printer in an old HP Photosmart 7600 which has never missed a beat. My son had his from new and still buys original carts but produces beautiful pictures of his Russian cat. I just use re-cyled original carts from IJT with no problems at all. I printed out the Manual Pages PeterBj directed me to on it.
Deminalized water with a drop of dish washing liquid, heated in the microwave seems to work best for (Canon) dye inks to me.
Patience - let the printer alone a few days with filled cartridges - revived a few heads where bathing and/or cleaning cycles could not help.
Contrary to common belief, I have much less trouble with (Canon) pigment printers than with dyes.
