All of them! LOL
Pretty soon I will have my Printing room all set up, where I will have a rack system housing all my photo printers.
Two Epson stylus 1400s one for color and one with an all black carbon based ink system.
One Epson R1900
One Canon PRO 9000 MKII
One Canon PRO 9500 MKII

They will connect to my computer via a USB powered hub. Main USB will pass through the wall to my PC in another room facing that wall.

I am considering the Canon Pixma iX6520 printer strictly for documents, letters, quick photos. and all other non important strictly photographic printing. That's what the other printers are for.

I've read a bunch of reviews and apparently this printer is loved by all. I will of course be looking at refilling the carts this printer uses.

PGI-225 / CLI-226 are opaque so refilling these should be interesting. Maybe freedom method?
Is it true that you can get a set of OEM 220 and 221 transparent carts and swap chips from the PGI-225 CLI-226 carts?
Is a resetter readily available?
I will begin to search in this forum for info but I just wanted to know if any of you all have any experience with this printer.

Thanks
Jose

Congratulations! You have just surpassed all of us printer "collectors" by haveing several - all in use as we speak. I use a Canon ip5000 for photos and graphic projects and an HP3005 laserjet for business documents. My wife uses a Canon i960, mostly for printing out web sites and emails. In addition I have in storage a new unopened ip5000, a very slightly used ip5000, a spare unopened ip5000 printhead, and an i960 a friend gave me recently. I bought a slightly used ip4500 that I've stored as well. From another friend I have an additional ip5000 on the way with a new, unopened printhead. All of these printers tested perfectly before printeads were cleaned, dried, and all stored away.

Alll of this hording is to maintain the ability to easily refill carts for what will probably be the rest of my lifetime! people outside of this Forum must think we are crazy!!!!

You had me a bit confused at the start of your thread till I realised that you dident included the iX6520 in your collection.

The 220/221s cartridges will work in place of the 525/526s but with a chip swap and there is also a resetter available, so get refilling and enjoy.

I got eight printers all connected via USB hubs to three computers and growing.. :)

I'd be confused as well The Hat. I just realized I had failed to mention the actual printer model in my text.

So if I get what I have so far read, these opaque carts are pretty much out of the question as far as refilling unless I weigh them when full and when empty to figure out how much ink I need to refill. I should swap them with the 220/221s cartridges, using the chips from the originals that will come with the printer? Are they easily top filled? Or should I only consider freedom filling or using German method?

Thanks
Jose

Overall I refilled 525/526 cartridges 20 times with German method without any trouble. When printer says the cart is empty 525 takes about 10 ml and 526 about 6 ml.
Freedom method would be better as it is self limiting but takes more time and as I do not have a spare set of carts I choose German method because is faster so I wont let the printhead too much time without carts.

Understood! But wow, are those carts really that small??? I just fear I'll be refilling constantly. But still, other than the tiny carts, this printer looks like a really good choice for general work.

Maybe I'll use my spare Epson R340 I will not be using in my "Photo Printing Center " or a CX7400 still in the box that was included free when I last purchased a PC.

I cant say which refilling method is better for you Jose regarding the 221/220s as
I only use the one method myself and it works well for me + their not that much smaller either.

gigigogu method works for him and his 525s and he seems to be happy with that too
but Id still opted for replacing them with the 520s myself..:)

I assume that the 525 and 526 are equivalent to the USA 225s and 226s because my details are for
PGI 225 and CLI 226. I can get this printer for about $149 with free ship on EBAY
Canon wants $199

You assume correctly, but, the chip setter is different for each series - 52X vs 22X. (at least initially when the 52X chip setter was released)

I have one ix6520 and it seems to consume a lot of ink. I use my own mainly for volume wallet paper printing. It finished about 2 set pg225, 1 and half set of c,m,y and dye black colors for about 800 pages using draft mode.
