Flushing: http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=38244#p38244 The best way is up to you.

If drill top hole, then use low profile plugs: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Low-Clearan...62?pt=US_Ink_Refills_Kits&hash=item2ec211709e OR FROM http://www.octoink.co.uk/products/Refill-Plugs-[Canon].html

First post in this thread is how I did it (I am an unexperienced user, like yourself): http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=7915

Hi all , after years of service my epson r360 with ciss has died ,, so i purchased a canon mg5250 to replace it..
im not keen on using another ciss system on this one as the ribbon ink feed looks like it might possibly get in the way, so ive decided to go down the refillable cartridges road..
just need a point in the right direction for best ones to go for , so far ive been looking at at a refillable kit from "cityinkexpress" which consists of 500ml of ink , 5 arc cartridges and syringes to fill them up..they also sell on ebay under the username "fotorite"
sorry but i cant post links to what im looking at as im a new member..
would this be a good kit to use or should i stay away from this type of kit for whatever reason ?.
ive also noticed some of these kits for my printer come with what looks like rubber washers, anyone know what for ?
thanks all,
lee
You should have followed your "gut" feeling and ordered the kit from fotorite....100%for an ebay seller...outstanding. You won't get a 1 year warranty from your ebay carts. Flushing, ball pulling, drilling, aluminum tape to ensure a seal. I've been down that road with the new carts. Your biggest chance of ruining your printer is a bad plug seal and the recommended solution is an accident waiting to happen for a new refiller.

The consensus on this forum is to stick with what we know works rather than something that we dont know.
The warrantee on these compatible cartridges is only 1 year so that in itself says it all.

OEM cartridges on the other hand can and usually last longer that the lifespan of the printer
that they came in so I would say thats considerably longer that one year.

As youre a new refiller yourself you might learn how to improve on your refilling technique by reading the many threads
on this forum on the mutable ways you can successful refill your carts time and time again.

So Happy Refilling to you.. :)

Well, i see where you might be coming from that refilling cartridges might be a crazy idea for some , but i have taken in the experience and knowledge from the members who have kindly posted with there help and all the info i could possibly need , plus life can be boring without a bit of a challenge ;-)
Im not like a sheep that follows what everyone else has done but the pros seem to far outway the cons when it comes to using the oem cartridges for refilling..
Anyways , i have got my 521/520 cartridges flushed and de-chiped ready for my refilling kit ordered from octoink, swap the chips from my 525/526 carts and away i go (with little fuss i hope :)

Just one more thanks to whoever it was that recommended octoink (the hat was it ?) what a helpfull guy that martin is who runs the shop/site, will def be using him again and reccommend him to anyone that hasnt used the site before..

Your cartridge looks to me to have been filled by an expert, well done.:thumbsup

There's more than enough ink in the cartridge for your printer to work correctly, no worries.

The cartridges will be safe to store in that condition for month..
