Canon Maxify Question ?

The method in video #3 is probably OK but the video is too much drawn out IMO, so I didn't have the patience to watch all of it.

It is pretty much the same as video #2 that you liked but at a slower pace and with more info explaining the entire process from removing the cartridge to refilling to reinserting the cartridge and printing again. Certainly could use a some polishing in the production values but the man gets his points across.

Here is the plate that was removed, there’s nothing to it, its just a blocker and is not needed in the printer at all.

If you can imagine it, just turn the plate 90 degrees towards you looking at the photo, that the way it sits...

It is east to remove, open the front door and slide your fingers along the underside of the printer and locate two little inlets, next push a small screwdriver into the hole and you’ll hear a click, then do the same with the second hole and the plate will slide out into your hand...

Does this give you easier access to the plastic white gear that needs to be rotated till it clicks to allow one to remove a cartridge that is not marked as Empty?

@stratman, When the plate is removed from the printer there’s no need to touch the white plastic gear wheel at all, it then give you complete access to all the carts at any time.

There are two ways of removing the carts from the Maxify, one is to wait till the printer informs you that a cart is empty and the print head stops in the special replacement position. !

The other way, is to pull the plug when the print head is in motion, this printer doesn’t centre the carts when the front panel door is lowered, as you might expect, instead it plays funny buggers by keeping the head on the parking station till a cart is declared empty...

@The Hat - Yes, the videos I posted demonstrate this behavior. Hard to tell if Canon was trying to make their printers monkey proof with this new fangled empty cartridge replacement routine, or, if Canon was trying to proof their printers from us monkeying around with them.

If the reason for the change is the latter then Canon failed.

@The Hat so do you know how many pages Maxify can print until get "Absoder full". And what we can do? The charge for canon service may be expensive. I print alot about 1000 pages/day

Hi @tiuayen and your very welcome to the forum, unfortunately that’s an issue that most have not yet faced, the real problem with filling the waste ink tank comes from not been able to change all the cartridges together when one becomes empty.

I am considering the problem of how to get the ARC chipped cartridges to reset before they are declared empty, because that’s when most of the ink is wasted and ends up in the waste ink tank.

You could try this yourself because of the quantity you print, but you’ll need 3 sets of cartridges to fool the printers’ EPROM chip into causing the ARC chips to reset themselves, it may work but I honestly don’t know just yet.

The charge for Canon to service the printer maybe dearer than buying another new printer, you can empty the waste tank yourself but you won’t be able to reset the waste counter, the only saving grace is, it does take a long time to fill.

I am sorry I could not provide you with the answer you wanted...

@The Hat What happen when the waste counter is fulled? can we just skip it and printing normal ?
Like ink level. In my old printer, i can print normal but it's emty

Hi @tiuayen, when your printer hits the waste ink counter full, that it, dead bang down the hole, it over you can’t print another single sheet.

because the service mode operation that we could use to reset the ink counter has now been disabled, and is only available to Canon service, you can empty the waste ink tank for all the good it will do..

But can i refill Maxify with dye ink? in my country hard to find good pigment ink

The question you asked in another post about using dye inks in your printer is yes ! but it may dribble a little and it could also get messy on the paper, a better option is to source pigment inks in China..
