Hiya's,

My beloved 4300 died (printhead grrrrrrrrrr)

My 4500 has given up the ghost on text black ink (swapped preffs to photo paper to use normal black for now)

I would like to stay with canon (upto 120 - 150 region)

Needs to be able to print cd's etc

Anyone care to chip in, i've been out of the loop for a while :(

Used to refilling carts and using redsetters

Many Thanks

Tony

ps : In the UK Don't mind buying from EU (get my inks etc from germany, never had a problem)

Tony

My suggestion Tony is one you may not want to here or like but here it is anyway.

If both of your printers have lost their print heads then I would search high and low to find a replacement for them.

You got two of the best Canon printers around and you should do your very best to hang onto them with both hands,
they use the same cartridges the same inks and the same resetter,
thats an unbeatable combination to have these days and I reckon one you should cherish.

Another suggestion, rather a recommendation is to use an ink supplier thats closer to home in the UK,
they have just about everything that a good refiller needs and more.. :)

It makes me wonder if when Canon rerouted the black pigment ink waste ink to the upper center of the printer if this is not shortening the life of print heads. The purge pumps are marginal at best when the two waste tubes empty straight down into the inkwell but the iP4500 pigment pump has to try and push the thick black ink up hill and to far.

I think there would be less pigment black problems in iP4500s and other Canons if the pigment black waste hose was modified to just let the ink empty straight down like they used to on older printers.

I totally agree I dont trust canon either, so rather than modifying the 4500,
one other way is switch to using dye ink in the pigment cartridge
and the problem of gunk in the tubes is no longer..

Hiya's,

Well the 4300 is no more

Took it apart for the motors and other 'goodies' (got into model railways again, hence bits taken out) was really beyond repair compared to the 4500

Was showing its age, and had a damned good printing life for me

Will try and find on the bay a new head for this 4500 (maybe only printed a few hundred a4's and maybe 50 discs lol)

My bad for not removing the head and storing it really

I assume a genuine head for this 4500 is the same the world over ?? (will try and check and post back if i'm still unsure ;) )

Many Thanks

Tony

The iP4500 head in the US interchanges with the iP5300, MP810 and the MX850.
I wonder what the difference is going to be in the UK?
Hat will know.

Hiya's,

I found some cart flush unopened (2 small bottles)

Never used it before but worth a try

I've soaked the 4500 head in some since early this morning

I assume i did right .............. opened lid to let carts/head come into the change/refill position, then i powered off and removed the head/carts

Was worried about power going through when i removed head ( ? )

Anyways, i'll let her soak some more, then dry off real good

Hopefully i'll have a chance at a fully working head

If not i've found heads for around 60

Thanks

Tony

ps : Ron, i'll try and find time and see if us heads are the same, thing is now, uk nobbles me for import tax even on my xmas pressies lol So maybe still cheaper getting a new head here or the EU

Will post back later with flushing results

Hiya's,

Cannot get the black to print, even after many many cleaning cycles and numerous squirts of air

So i'm ordering a head

Also, am i correct in thinking the canon ip7250 can be reset ? (like a red setter or blue setter ?? )

I would like to have another printer as i tend to have one upstairs and one by my main rig downstairs

Cheers

You'de be a brave man to get one of those printers. :barnie
There is no way at present to refill the 550/551 cartridges and there is no resetter either..:somad

You could be the first if you wish and report back on your success..

Hiya,

Just come to the same conclusion searching lol

Waiting for an email back from a uk shop, might be able to get me an ip4500

Might see if i can find a ip4300 over the channel too

Well, i'm 60 quid lighter for a printhead, but at least i'll have at least one fully working printer for now :)

Cheers

Tony
