Seems I checked the forum at the right time...

Ok... I have one thoroughly clogged but useable iP4300 sitting on a shelf looking for a new home so if you want it, 20 to cover postage + a small beer, and it's yours..

As for the iP4500, depending on where you've already ordered from the best place is CRC-Tasktron which is the Canon service centre in the UK. I've not found genuine, new parts for cheaper and they are not of the "Oh! you used *spit* other inks?! We can't help you at all" ilk but they might smirk a little ;)

Beyond that I've also got in some printhead cleaner from Image Specialists specifically for the Canon and other Bubble/Thermal printheads so I can chip in a little of that with the iP4300 for you to play with.

Hiya's,

Going through a hard stage in my life, but i want to save some precious pictures and videos to dvd/bluray etc

I have got the head on the 4500 working to a decent degree

But i have a new problem ............................

The cd tray is the 'F' type (same as my old 4300 tray)

I loaded canon cd labelprint etc and the 4500 shows as only and default printer attached etc etc

But when i try to print onto a disc it's as if the tray won't go in or be pulled in anywhere near fully

The result is printing takes place on approx 12mm or so of the inner part of a disc (as the discs are round (of course) the printing just takes place on a fraction of the tip of the disc, the rest gets printed onto the top of the inner/first inserted part of the tray

Any ideas ???

The 4500 was used by my ma and i desperatley want to get it fully working

Hope it makes sense

Many Thanks

Tony

ps: searching like crazy but really can't find anything

pps: after botched disc print attempt, the tray doesn't eject as normal (maybe there's a way to reset the cd tray alignment etc ?? )

Hiya,

I'm sure something has either gone into the printer and is jamming whatever grabs and draws in the tray, or something has come out of alignment (maybe due to foreign object etc, really i dunno)

After yet again printing a fraction of the tip of a disc and then carrying on printing on the upper (inserted) tray, i do notice a notchy/jiggy kind of tray exit movement

Deffo not being grabbed inwards, and jerky coming out, even though the actual tray movement is minimal

Cheers for the link though

And as i type, i've just forced the tray in and out then back in, last ditch attempt so i'll give it a try lol

Cheers

Hiya's,

My gawd

I fixed it

With the printer on, i slid the tray with disc on inwards pretty much as far as it would push

Then i withdrew it

Then put tray back in again almost as far as it would go

Left tray slammed in the printer

Hey presto, hit print on cd labelprint

Printed like a good'un lol

So i guess with a 4300 or 4500 putting the tray almost fully inwards helps the guide/innards/wizardry stuff re-align/reset

Anyways i chuffed i can print discs again :)

Cheers

Tony
