Canon Black ink fade test..

I’ve got 3 different Canon inks here to test for fading over a six month period..

Printed on United Copy Paper and Glossy Photo Paper, both from Lidl.. All are A5 size..

The inks are FotoRite Black, OctoInkjet CLl-42 V2. Black and Canon 53 BK Black..

All are printed on highest settings and in Greyscale, but will include some colour, because that how this 8 colour dye ink i9950 printer works..

It’s now May 6th so I will publish the results of this test on about Nov the 1st next.. Hopefully..

I have the prints on a plank and its positioned under a glass lean-to out of the rain, but South facing, so if they don’t blow away I’ll be able to scan and display each of them separate..

Probably is none of my business, but wouldn't be possible for you to print also samples on "good" paper from a reputable brand, in addition to that crappy Lidl stuff ?

Why would I buy expensive paper to run my tests, when I’ll never used it before, I only use crappy Lidl stuff and never use anything else, because I found it to my liking, and am not as judgemental as you seem to be on certain brands.

Becides it's a good combination, crappy inks and crappy paper make for great bed fellows..

Lighten up a bit @Artur5, because my photos are most likely crappy too, so I’d be wasting my time buying quality papers and inks, trying to make a sow's ear into a silk purse..

I’ve just noticed 4 day in and already the combination of 3rd party inks and low quality papers are starting to produce the typical fading that most users get..

This is only the Glossy paper and not that visible on the copy paper yet..

Aren't you a little bit early with your report - May 9 instead of Nov 1 ?

Yes - your report is very much typical for this kind of ink/paper combinations.

I couldn’t help it, because I walk past the test images several times a day, and was surprised to see such a dramatic change this early..

Will you be doing tests on some of the colours too? We don’t want our scarlet tulips turning brown.

Actually no, because it’s the black ink fading that causes the scarlet tulips to turn brown..

Perfect answer.. otherwise they’d look like traffic lights. Still, Be reassuring to know that the colours aren’t fugitive too.
