Hi Guys,

I had a busy weekend running around and in the end, I acquired 2 more printers, however, 1 of them I'm going to give to one of my wife's friends. My wife is a cathedral artist as she restores religious art, statues, paintings and the such. She has so many artsie friends and 1 of them needed a nice photo printer.

The first one, and this is the one that I'm giving away, is a Canon Pro 100 and it came with all the things that are needed for refilling (i.e., resetter and PrecisionColors Inks with squezy bottles) and a package of RedRiver 13 x 19 paper. The printer has a perfect nozzle check and I believe that the guy I bought it from actually frequents this forum, however, I forgot to ask his forum name, my bad.

The second one is a Canon Pro 9500 and it came with a set of full carts and a whole bunch of paper. 3 packages of 13 x 19 HP Premium Plus High Gloss and a handful of 5 x 7 packages. I paid $30 for it and the paper is worth $30 for sure.

The Canon 9500 is the one I have a question for. Can this printer be hooked up to a Windows 10 pro box? I went online and Canon doesn't have any drivers for it.

I have my two 9500’s running on Win 8.1, so I Imagine Win 10 would have no problems with yours...
Is it a 9500 or a 9500 mk2... ?

I was told it was a 9500 mk2, but when I got there it was a 9500. I already have a 9500 mk2 and that does work on a Windows 10 pro box. I was considering making this new printer into a GLOP.

You may need to deactivate the W10 driver authentication, there are lots of guides how to do that - like this one

The W7 or W8.1 driver should do it then , just use the resp 32/64bit driver matching your system

I was considering making this new printer into a GLOP.

A Good idea to use this machine as a Glop printer, because the 9500 drinks ink big time, but if you use it solely for Glop and fit a Printer Potty, then you can reuse the waste Glop again, which will give you little or no waste at all.

Glop printing does not clog up the nozzles and the printer can be left for months without use in definitely, it stays 100% clog free...

Doing maintenance on the Canon 9500 now. I don't really know when the printer was actually used last so I had the print head soaking over night.

Has anyone created a "How To" for converting to a GLOP.

There really is no need for a “How To”, you start by flooding the purge unit with Windex, then install you freshly cleaned print head, next is to clean out a set of carts and fill them with GLOP, then run one or two normal head cleans.

Try printing a couple of nozzle checks and any sort of test prints, this will flush out any residue of ink that might have remained inside the print head, and between each printout run a head clean or two, this helps flush the purge unit also.

When fitting a printer Potty, you can give the purge unit a good hands on cleaning, and you’ll know if you done a good job when the Glop comes out clear...
