@3dogs - Thanks for asking. The current fires are a fair distance from San Francisco. As the news has reported, they are most difficult to control and have destroyed or are about to destroy many homes and other buildings. All the trees and foliage are bone dry, and the winds we've had in the last few days spread the fire like crazy.

We did have a tiny bit of rain yesterday but only enough to wet the streets. The weather has also cooled somewhat. We are expecting an El Nino winter. The ocean offshore from San Francisco is warmer than usual, and this is a pretty good indicator that we will have more severe weather than normal.

I REALLY hope that progress is not entirely behind these events, it actually distresses me to hear of great trees of considerable age being killed by wildfire.
May be a bit daft at times but a person gets to looking at facts....some of these trees approach a thousand years old....and nothing like this has threatened them till now!!!

What does post processing mean, some cameras have HDR built in along with all the other settings? Your rules have to be much more specific.

So far I think the posts have told us more about the poster, than the images!!

When the images are bla and dont add anything what can one say.....
The top third of a very boring frog with a bug in transit (maybe) waddyasay.....its crap, boring, pointless AND overprocessed to boot a very mixed non professional grab bag .......I just ran out of good things to say about them

Very true.

Also if shooting raw, which all serious photographers claim they do, then post processing is a mandatory part of the work flow.

Then, as we all know, the amount of arrogance among photographers is very high for an art form that is subjective.

Paraphrasing advice from a past mentor: "A good photographer can capture a great image with a bad camera/lens, while a bad photographer cannot capture a great image with the best camera/lens. A better camera/lens can only make a photographer's life a little bit easier. Don't focus too much on what kind of photo equipment you own or wish to have. Instead, focus on your techniques as a photographer. The final result is what really matters!"

Case in point: When Polaroid pictures were in vogue for instant snapshots there were a few professionals who did some very artistic work with these films. Also, I've seen some very interesting, artistic photos made with "smart" phones. Your are right, Roy. It is the creative operator of the equipment that counts.
