Things are getting out of hand for you across the pond that you're using MPH instead of KPH to make it seem like it's not as bad. :p

To @ somebody, type the "@" and type the first three letters/numbers of the user name of the person. You will see a tiny popup window list with everyone whose user name has those first three letters you have typed to that point. As you type more letters the list gets shorter. At any time click on the name you want and the full name will appear after the @. Pretty sweet. Like Spell Check.

@stratman That's a useful tip, the name appears and you just carry on typing? But it's not underlined yet.

I suppose it is a bit daft, but although we have suffered metrication since the 1960's, as far as speed is concerned, we have stuck with MPH. It saves changing all the road signs and peoples' mind sets.

These are last night's and this morning's sat images and I'm begining to wonder if it may turn out to be a false alarm.

Well, we are all here OK (near City of Bath). We had some gusty periods between 01.30 and 03.00 last night, but nothing exceptional. I think the south coast and south east England have had the worst of it with some scaffolding structures and trees blown down. The storm has moved away to main land Europe now.

It seems from TV comment, that it was an unusual type of storm, which self generated south of the coast in a matter of hours.

I don't expect The Hat experienced any of it.

Hi Rod,

Guess we must be about the same age. Can't remember why I logged on.

Why am I in this handcart, and where are we going!

This is strange. I am just now reading your posts from the end of October and only because I manually went into the thread for something else, not because of a New Post notification. Maybe it didn't show up in New due to the server issues around then.

Anywho, thanks for the updates on the storm you had. Guess it wasn't as bad as the media was warning. NOTHING like what hit the Philippines! That was truly catastrophic.

You are right, I think Denmark and the Baltic caught it as well. The Philippines is in a different catagory.

I don't know how everyone else is finding this site is responding, but in the UK, I am getting noticeable delays, or complete lack of response to, for example, input requests to display larger images from thumbnails or edit messages.

There is also a tendency, when editing a message, to find missing words, or groups of words, in the text. If you re-edit to correct these, you eventually find that they were not in fact missing at all and you have produced a duplication.

These effects may all be due to server delays, but are others finding the same?

I have noticed this delay also much the same as you, there is a pause between when you click on something
like post or edit some text before it eventfully appears and yes stuff does disappears for a while also.

Stratman reckon it was because of the earlier problems that the site was experiencing
and most of it was now fixed, but obviously not this delay problem.

Isn’t it great to have a good old moan every now and then dough ? :weee
