The Leeds Liverpool Bridgewater canal at Leigh town center, Gtr Manchester.

Imagine, if I've had had a pint or two anything could have happened. I had to crop the jpeg to upload it. Its one of them pictures that looks confusing when looking at arms length.

The camera is a Canon A650IS, I can't remember what setting I used.

My wife happened upon a greetings card which she bought for £1.80 to show me, which showed a very similar image of the lavender field and wall, as my image in post#152. Perhaps we should all go into business with The Hat and produce cards commercially. We could make it worldwide!

Trouble is with postcards, if they are done a inkjet, they will run like clappers - would I be right?

S'pose it depends if the ink got legs.

@Pentode that’s where pigment ink comes into it’s own on the likes of greeting cards, post cards and calendars, I even hear some guys use them for Photos too..

Cleaner?

I can't remember if I commented before, but I have a surprising reaction when I look at this picture now. It's too perfect. The one remaining shrub is a little disturbing, and the absence of the others is even more disturbing. It's just too perfect, as if nature is too barren and abstract and symmetrical and boring and conventional without what belongs there. One can go bananas looking at nothing but splendor. The little shrubs command attention, and why shouldn't they? There is this gorgeous rock, then there are these scrappy little shrubs with gorgeous texture and color, that also command respect. I find myself looking at the trees more than the rock. The rock by itself is magnificent, but it's part of a whole, and it's diminished if you clear out the neighborhood to display it. Nature isn't perfect, it has warts, and the warts are as interesting and as beautiful as what we are supposed to be looking at. I like the first version. I hope I've convinced you in time.

You are right, we got through the Summer fire free, though it was not without its moments. There IS a fire bug in the area, has not been caught yet!!
Autumn is upon us and that spells more work cutting timber, splitting logs and building a supply of dry wood to heat our house........no wood, no warmth! Current inside temperature 2 degrees C and freezing outside. Go figure that sort of temperature difference 45 C in summer, below freezing in winter with a top temperature of 13 C for day time.

I am really pleased that your starling got the nod. That is a bloomin AWESOME image, seriously I believe its the best I have seen in this forum! There you go! And there have been some beauties submitted.
