Hello All,
My 7800 after printing flawlessly for months, suddenly started printing with the deep magenta color cast you see in the picture. It also prints a wide magenta stripe over the nozzle check patterns and over the print below them. See pictures for that too. The colors in the pictures are not very true. What I'm getting is more pink. I've tried rebooting the printer, and changing printing app but not a different computer. I hope this printer can be saved. Thanks in advance.

You’re not using a printer profile AND an application profile at the same time? A slip of the mouse can do bad things...

Would that affect a nozzle check? With Canon's these are machine level operations requiring no external printer profile.

Probably not. I was looking at the photo only. Forget all after hello...

@pkk, That looks to me to be a printer hardware issue, the printer has malfunctioned and is adding extra unwanted magenta to anything it outputs so unless you can get a reset on/or flash the EPROM chip then its fatal, sorry...

The nozzle check print looks very weird and appears to have a complete (light) magenta overprint , as well the bottom text area - short statistics about the ink consumption and paper length printed, that looks like a hardware fault.

Thanks to all for the replies. I agree with the diagnosis but it never hurts to let others look. There's a retired Epson tech in Florida who advertises on ebay. I may seek his advise on repairing it. These things have apparently increased in value since I bought mine 2 years ago.
