One of my 3880's dribbled ink on the print so decided it was time for a towel in the track of the printhead soaked with 99% isopropyl alcohol (Not a fan of ammonia as it reacts and is corrosive with metals.) and a flush and cleaning of the capping station.
Usually I can squirt 10cc of print head cleaner onto the two pads in the capping station and they will drain and become white again after a few squirts. The left pad is usually magenta and yellow stained, and the right is covered in black and maybe cyan ink.
This time the black pad is draining, was initially stubborn but it is now draining, and it's becoming white again. However, the left magenta/yellow is becoming a pool of ink up to the edges of the rubber surrounding the capping station and the rubber bit between the two pads. It's not draining out at all. Don't know if there are two drain lines under each pad, but seems the M/Y pad is blocked up. Might be storing excess ink and not draining and the head is resting in it and dirtying up the underside of the head and causing the ink dribbles on the print.
Anyone know if there are two drain lines under the white pad? I'm tempted to try and blow the top of the capping station and force it to drain but don't know about the drain tube setup on the 3880.
Tia.
