I got a i550 for 4$ plus 2 30ml black syringes of inktec inks. Now that is a bargain because the printer does not print and has trouble taking paper. I got it for my print head washing unit I'm building http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=8633

If I'm unable to fix it well it's not a loss after all :)

I've bought several i960's on ebay where the description indicated that one color sudden stopped working, then another an another (syptomatic of a purge unit issue).

I found both had a small tube disconnected from the purge pad. A common i960 problem...

Upon re-installation (a 10 minute job), perfect printing!

I see the MP600 is well liked. What about the MP610. I was under the impression that they are about the same
but of course the print engine must be different since the head part numbers are different.

In my area some gal about 40 miles away has a 600 for sale at $50. Someone else has a 610, also at $50.
I asked the gal with the 600 to do a nozzle check then scan it and email to me. Of course that's not the same as
seeing it done. She sez, "Oh, no, I can't do that because I got a new printer now." In other words, she bought it new
and has used it all through her college years and beyond (I guess). But she knows "for sure" that all the nozzles are in
perfect shape. Oh well, it's 40 miles.

Given this kind of "atmosphere", which one would you opt for?
