No, they didn't help. I mostly got a tool bar I didn't want and nothing else. I did buy a manual, somewhere else, for $3.00 that was pretty much a total waste of money. I couldn't find anything that dealt with this problem.
I had no problems downloading the manuals from the Hungarian (?) site. It seems the site might be a bit picky about which browser and anti virus software you use. I am using Win Vista Home Premium 32 bit, Firefox v. 14.0.1, AVG Internet Security v.2012.0.1913. For an extra check of downloads I also have Malwarebytes Antimalware (MBAM) free version.
Neither AVG nor MBAM found anything suspicious in the downloaded manuals. I got no extra toolbars or other suspicious content.
The manuals are .pdf and the parts catalog is 391 kB and the service manual is 584 kB, total 975 kB, so I think both files could be attached to one E-mail without problems. You are both welcome to E-mail me requesting the manuals. I will then send an answer with the manuals attached.
Deepest appreciation to turbguy for sending me a picture with directions for screw locations. I've got it apart and find that the tube which I believe to be for the black ink is totally disconnected and there is black ink all over everything. The bottom layer of foam looks to be saturated and about a third of the top layer. What should my next move be? Do I clean those pads, and if so, how, and do I assume that the problem was not a clog but a disconnect? Or do I still assume that it's clogged? Any input will be appreciated.
Still assume there's a clog and make sure the pump and it's manifolds are clear. Typically a disconnected tube will not permit a stable puddle to form (it would keep draining). With the printer cover off, puddle-test the purge system again before final reassembly to assure everything stays attached.
Remove the waste pads, recording their position carefully so you don't get confused about placing them back. Wash them out in clear water (it's a REAL mess), dry them out, and place them back. They will not be white again after washing. I found repeated heating in a microwave oven speeds up the drying, but that's up to you.
Instructions somewhere in the service manual will allow you to reset the waste ink counter (and also print a service test print, too).
