Fun with a new printer so from my other thread I decide to get a new canon MG7530 it’s a Japan only model so I’m expecting some interesting times (printer it’s self was 73 UKP)
The highlights
Double sided print
Dual paper trays
Scanner / Copier
CD/DVD Printing
Wifi/Network
NFC
The bad points...
I have decided to keep the IP8600 But it's seems printhead on it's way out as the other color are failing now ..
So I'm going mothball it I will strip down and clean the pads/purge unit and wait until I can get a new P/H for it
(Many moons I used to be bench engineer for HP/Canon/QMS Printers...
I live in Tokyo .. At the time the canon was the only one that had a English drivers and the CD software was English .. looking that the IP8750 it's takes BCI-325 carts it seems the XLs are the high Cap tanks and the MG 7530 takes them too but checking the spec it also takes the non-XL version...
The ink pads just need to be rinsed, dried and reinstalled they just don't make them anymore (don't think I have seen any for sale)
It's just the newer printers are crap they aren't built to last I compare the ip8600 to new canon it's like night and day
But your right I can buy a Pixus MG7530...
Ok heres the story I have a Canon IP8500 I have had it for about 9 years
So last night I get the Ink Waste Full message and also the printhead test show me that I have some elements down or blocked
Printhead is going to cost me 90-100 USD if I can find one and the pads are a bitch to change...
Thanks .. I did manage to get hold of someone last night and I got the prices I needed
Oh btw.. many thanks for the quick delivery to japan of my order
Joe
Has anyone sent a message and gotten a reply from Shenzhen Megacolor ?
I have sent 3 emails and tried chat with no replies as yet
They have a interesting resetter that resets all the BCi-321/CLi-221 type carts...
Yeah.. it sucks to import into the UK .. I ordered a DVD player .. one of the first ones in the UK it was 300USD cost me 60 pounds in charges to get the damm thing
Now that I'm living in japan it's a lot better .. I ordered a UMPC from the UK .. didn't pay TAX and the charges for a 700UKP ...
The problem is that in Japan they don't sell the P/H and in order to get a new P/H you have to send the unit to the service center
I had this problem with my ip8600 I did bite the bullet and get a P/H for it since I knew the history of the unit but the history of the MP610 is unknown to me and...
Ah.. I remember this well .. old ripoff Britain Also it seems that they can't tell the difference between dollars and pounds and they charge pounds like dollars :-(
Joe
Seems I'm in the same position with this MP610.. it's looks like the P/H is toast
The printer cost me about 35USD so I'm wondering if it worth getting a new head for ?
I found someone that has some cheap heads...
Just got a MP610 off the auctions.
It was classed as junk, the fault was it didn't feed paper but I managed to sort that ..
The second problem was it seems like it was standing for a while and the P/H has clogged after a few hours with some Isopropyl alcohol it's better the black is back but...
Generic carts aren't as good as a refilled OEM canon carts I used generic carts in my IP8600 it was always getting clogged heads and I wasted more ink cleaning than printer
With generic carts is always a unknown you never know what ink they use or if the cart is any good
Also I would beware...
Thanks,
I do like the IP8600 it doesn't use those damm chips and it's been a good printer it's was my fault that it broke because i used those refillable carts and they leaked causing purge problem
It's all cleaned out and the P/H has been replaced and it's working again but the drain lnk is...
a MP610 is a good printer if you want to reuse your old CLI-8 carts it's basically the last all in one that uses the CLi-8 carts (bk/c/y/m)
I'm just looking for a replacement for my IP8600 and I'm looking at the MP970 as a possible option (bk/c/y/m/pc/pm)
Joe
I have a IP8600 (it's a japanese IP8500 uses the same P/H inks) and it's maybe on it's last legs due to some bad compatible ink carts and I'm looking for another backup printer
How does the IP8600 compare to the newer 1pl 5 ink printers ? or the 1pl 7 ink one's like the MP970 ?
Basically I'm...
