Hello again guys, just a follow-up; the ip8500 has sorted itself out. I think one of the ink cartridges was bad as I kept printing as customers were happy with the prints although I stayed away from ones with lots of skin. But now, after a full set change it prints as well as the i9950. They're...
Hi Guys,
I've just bought an ip8500 after a disastrous experience with a PRO-1 (smashed to pieces by the courier)
The colours aren't right, it looks far too heavy on the magenta compared to my i9950. When it arrived the Red was blocked so I left in cleaning fluid overnight to soak, but that...
Just like to say thanks again to The Hat!
I cleaned my i9950 inc the bottom sponge and no more marks under the paper. I may even hold off on purchasing a new printer now until a good deal comes up on the Pro-1.
I have AC in the shop so that keeps it fairly dry as it goes through a de-humidify stage every few hours.
I might try and find a shelf thing rather than a trolley. I do enjoy buying things, I enjoy it more when they are a business expense too :D
I find with a mix of A4, A3, 5x7, 4x6 plus the laminating pouches and paraphernalia stacking them all on top of each other isn't working well.
I wondered about something like this:
Possibly going to hold out for a PRO-1 now. There doesn't seem to be much of a price difference, but I think I'll appreciate the higher capacity ink carts.
Wow, thanks. So much great info there.
I have had the i9950 apart before (ref age, it was introduced in 2006 according to the internets?) so feel confident I could clean up the purge area without too much drama. But may give it a go on the fly just through the access door. I didn't know the...
Awesome replies guys thanks!
Roy, points noted, but I'll be keeping the i9950 for a while so that will be my backup. Currently running without any backup so this can only be better.
"Hat", great shout, can I ask how it keeps it cooler? Does it print slower etc?
Dan
Hi Guys,
Paper related - what do you use for storing all the different types of paper you use? I only have 3 or 4 different sizes & weights and am already struggling to keep them from getting damaged (in a busy workshop) and am about to start getting into semi-gloss and matt finishes too, so...
Hi Guys,
I run a small computer shop that also offers a photo printing service. I'm currently using an ageing i9950 which I love, but is giving me problems now and then (see my other thread) and am wondering whether to buy the Pro-100, it can be bought fairly cheaply second hand nowadays. I'd...
Hi Guys,
I'll start by saying I appreciate this is a 10 year old printer model now, but I really hope someone still has knowledge of it. I bought it second hand 3 years ago and it's been an absolute workhorse. Printing easily 100 photo's a week ranging from 4x6 to A3. Sometimes it can run off...
Hi Guys,
It's been a while since I posted, and I must admit that lasers are not my area of expertise at all, hence my visit today:
I have purchased a Sharp ARC260 Colour Photocopier. There are lines on the print, please note this was printed in A4R so the lines are going top top bottom. The...
Interesting: they still have the wiggly-woggly bit on the top as if they were designed to have a label on top....Still, an open hole is an open hole. I cant see any reason other than aesthetics to put a sticker on top.

I think you'll find that even in Grayscale your printer will use various cartridges, not just the black one. I know that with the Canon, if you check that box all it does is print output in greyscale but it still uses all colours to get the thousands of shades of grey, not possible with just 1...
Ever thrown a handful of flour onto a fire to see what happens? Try it - big mushroom fireball!
Nearly everything in powder form is flammable, some toners are chemical based and some are basically powdered iron fillings - I have had reports of vacuums exploding if the bag bursts. We use special...
Its set up for the right paper think, i'll try some original cartridges tonight and see if the problem goes away.
One other thing i've noticed is a slight blue tinge across the darker area's of the photo untill the ink has dried over a few hours (although its touch dry as soon as it leaves the...
