nozzle check steps sometimes stay at same level or even slope up

Ink stained Fingers: I think you're on to something. My toner is about to run out. Paul Roark's inkset actually uses a mixture of blue and cyan, but I'm using a toner of unknown contents. Paul's formula for the toner is supposed to be 13.75% blue and 11.25% cyan (Canon Lucia pigment inks), and...

nozzle check steps sometimes stay at same level or even slope up

There is some validity to reviving this post, because now I'm using an Epson 1430 instead of a 1400. In fact I'm using two 1430's and same inkset as before. And I'm still getting the same results as shown in the photo. My understanding is that the 1430 has most of the same features as the 1400.

    non-functioning left button 932 Deskjet

You're welcome. However, this morning I noticed a mistake in that message... I should've said "right to left"

    non-functioning left button 932 Deskjet

Here's the chart I mentioned earlier, it's not as complete as the ones Peter provided links for. Mine is rather small, and I have it taped to my 932 just below the buttons for convenience. The way I use it: I hold down the power button (#1) with one finger, then with the other finger(s) tap...

    non-functioning left button 932 Deskjet

I just scanned it - but will upload later in the day, with some brief instructions.

    non-functioning left button 932 Deskjet

I'm feeling rather sheepish... the third button has no light. There is a third LED but there is no button under it. The third button cancels the print, no need for the third LED. And the third LED does light when the printer goes through various routines listed on the chart. I have a little...

Thanks pharmacist, but there's already a hole in the lid. Best Regard, Paul

waste ink tube shows irregular flow

I bought a Printer Potty for my 1430, it's my fourth. It's a quality product and my previous three printers use them with great success. The tough part for me was removing the 1430's shell and this time I took the lazy way out and asked my local tech person to install the Printer Potty. However...

    non-functioning left button 932 Deskjet

Thanks Peter, but that looks to be above my pay grade, as the saying goes. Beautifully presented, excellent photos and comments in red arrows.

    non-functioning left button 932 Deskjet

I have a fresh color cart installed. The printer itself is old, but very clean at a local thrift shop. It had only printed about 30-40 prints. Has printed faultlessly the past few years. Was trying to print using the various buttons, but anything involving pressing the left button will not...

does each cart require a separate syringe?

Thank you, Guilherme. Good tip on going from low percentage to higher! Paul

does each cart require a separate syringe?

(Two posts in a row... I've been taught no more than one issue to a post!) I'm using Paul Roark's excellent formula for b/w printing in my 1430, consisting of black, a blue/cyan toner, and four dilutions of the black. I've been using 100% carbon ink in the black position, so aside from the...

    changing cartridge protocol

First thing this morning I printed a nozzle check and the yellow position (but containing a blue toner) was perfect. I next tried printing a photo of a church, and it was a bit flat. But it's been that way earlier so it's hard to draw conclusions. I next printed a bargraph, that is, the six...

    changing cartridge protocol

Well, I decided for now to replace the color carts the printer came with and install a carbon ink set of carts... are you familiar with that set? Thanks to your guidance on how to swap inksets. I got a near perfect nozzle check first try. The only hitch is that the yellow position pattern...

    changing cartridge protocol

I'm using an Epson 1430, got it used in like new condiltion - clog free. It's equipped with a set of almost empty color cartridges, but the yellow cart is defective and I can't print. I plan tol order a new set of color bottles from Inkjetcarts. I already have a set of their refillable carts...

yellow position in my 1430's nozzle check contains some black

I think I'll take you up on that idea of starting a separate thread. Thanks for your help here, however! Regards, Paul

yellow position in my 1430's nozzle check contains some black

The black inkset I use is well-established, I've mixed several batches over the past few years. I acquired this printer with color carts, and I want to remove those and install the black inkset. My question was how to go about that. Maybe I"m making a simple task complicated! I've been known to...

yellow position in my 1430's nozzle check contains some black

Thank you, I was hoping to hear that good news. Just another small question... what about changing from my current color inkset to a black only (except for the blue toner) inkset? Is what I outlined earlier the way to do it?

yellow position in my 1430's nozzle check contains some black

Hello isf (I think I've you referred to with initials!) Thanks for your reply, but I haven't tried it yet. In the meantime I think I've narrowed the solution down to a bad cart, in this case the yellow cart. I borrowed a yellow position cart from another set and the print was fine. In this case...
