Blink Rate on close-to-out iP8720 carts

I'm a newbie, just got an iP8720. I did some searching the forum for an answer, but I may have missed it 1) About how long does a slow blinking cart take before it switches to fast? 2) and how long does the cart's fast blink take? 3) Say my computer's cyan cart is on the slow blink phase...

Ink in carpet. Any tips? Am I screwed?

Thanks, The Hat, appreciate your response. I'll try your table salt method (both ways!). As for kind of ink, if it was black I'm quite sure it was pigment ink. If red, it would have to be dye. Care to comment on how to treat the two kinds of ink? Thank you!

Ink in carpet. Any tips? Am I screwed?

We just had some new windows installed, and I believe the interior wood is finished in polyurethane. I spilled some red computer ink on it, about a couple of inches by a quarter inch. The ink seeped in right away into the wood. Might the rug spilllage technique described here work on wood? I...

continue using QTR with iP8720 ink?

Thanks, PeterBJ, I've always wondered about this.

continue using QTR with iP8720 ink?

continue using QTR with iP8720 ink?

I'm sure there are members who can explain QTR better than I do. QTR stands for QuadToneRip, and some would call it a printer utility but I think it's more sophisticated than that. It uses a carbon ink in an essentially distilled water and glycerine base. Since carbon ink is too warm for some...

continue using QTR with iP8720 ink?

I've used QTR for years, with carbon ink. Been very happy with the results. When I tried to use iP8720 ink with QTR I ran into a block: I couldn't fill in the blank on QTR's "Printing Model", although I did fill in the preceding blank marked simply "name", filled it in with "Canon iP8700...

business cards poorly spaced on 10 to a sheet

Thank you, Peter and The Hat, I appreciate your efforts. I was continuing the search too, and discovered there's a hidden code at the top of the text, actually a pair of codes. Turns out they were rather dated, something like 2008. So I updated those codes wth this year's date: 2022. That seemed...

business cards poorly spaced on 10 to a sheet

This question could also fit with my Epson printer so I hope I'm in the right place. The problem is that the cards don't maintain their position... as you go down the page, the carts overlap more and more. As many of you know, an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet usually fits ten business cards to a page, two...

The Truth about Canon Pigment vs Dye Black Ink

For years I used a pigment ink, aka Eboni, a carbon ink. For paper I used Premier Art, a Fine Art mat paper, with excellent results. I consider it a photo paper because it's for my b/w photos. I've come to raise this question: can we consider that a "photo paper" is only a gloss paper? I just...

    variable tone B & W

PS: In that link there's mention of Image Specialists. This is amazing, aren't they related to inksupply.com?! Are they back in business? They hit some hard times some years ago. That was where I got my feet wet in digital printing, with a $99 Epson printer and a single cartridge setup. We were...

    variable tone B & W

Thanks much, PeterBJ, looks like I'm on a similar track. How affirming to see the same page from the driver I was looking at. And your link was right on... maybe I should move my question over there (no offense here!). BTW, I agree, that the "software is part of the printer driver". I may not...

    variable tone B & W

I'm new to the Canon world of printing b/w. I've been using 6 cartridges, 5 variations of Eboni black, and 1 toner. Today I printed an iron truss bridge (lots of black and dark rusty red!) with my new Canon Pixma iP8720 using EZink. I was quite happy with the results except for the tone of the...

loud sharp noise as my new Canon iP8720 warms up to print

That Signia link contained some excellent source material... for example "hyperacusis" , the ailment that had me mystified.

"recruitment" I could make a kinda guess, but "hyperacusis" is out of my range! This thread has turned out quite well, thanks all! Paul

loud sharp noise as my new Canon iP8720 warms up to print

I have a pretty good audiologist (sp?)... I need to tell her about this episode! And as for "hyperacusis" - that's a new one for me. As for phones... if I understand my setup, I'm on phones most of the time. But it's time now for a checkup. Thanks for your positive outlook on this post...

loud sharp noise as my new Canon iP8720 warms up to print

stratman, I found the answer myself! It's my hearing aid! I'm still learning how to use it... it turns out that my settings were not well adjusted. On a hunch, I removed the ear pieces and this made a sizable difference. Earlier PeterPJ had suggested I upload a video clip and I think I can...

loud sharp noise as my new Canon iP8720 warms up to print

A video sounds like an excellent idea, but I'd have to say I'm not up to that skill myself. Thanks for thinking of me!
