When does the firmware upgrade take place?
It appears that the Epson printer tries to upgrade the firmware when the 'almost empty' screen is shown.
This screen dump shows a similar screen, but the carts aren't empty yet.
The upgrade takes place when the box 'buy Epson ink' is ticked or the...
I am not the oldest or most respected member here, but after having bought a Canon I went back to Epson again.
The Canon is still used next to the Epson, I didn't transfer it into a flower pot. But to my taste Epson is better.
If you are happy with Canon, why change? The newest Canons still...
Many use pigment ink in an Epson dye printer without problems. It appears that the print heads for dye ink are build the same as the ones for pigment ink.
This only goes for Epson and Brother printers, with their 'cold' technique. For Canon and other brands it's a different story.
The photo looks better than the scan, but I agree that the photo black ink is missing.
Good B&W prints can be achieved with the grey dye ink, as I experienced with the Canon MG6250 which has grey in the ink set.
But the results with the K3 pigment ink is great! Reason why my latest experiments...
For Canon there is a much easier way to obtain B&W photos. Grey dye ink is available for Canon printers like the MG6250.
I've filled the color cartridge of an iP90 with this grey ink from Sun Chemical. All three colors got the same grey ink.
The photos appeared to be very neutral, and no density...
Thanks for the compliments, guys.
The paper setting is 'matte' indeed. It's the only way to have the black ink in the game with this 'Durabrite' printer. The paper I use is Netbit (Sihl) glossy.
The grey inks are rather warm as you noticed. I think it's carbon based ink. The PK photo black is a...
And now for a neutral tone!
To get a more neutral tone with these LK and LLK inks I’ve experimented with adding some Light Cyan to the yellow cartridge.
I’ve tried different mixtures, but it appeared that simply filling the yellow cartridge with 100 % Light cyan gave the best tone.
I’ve...
I too switched to Canon. But after a while, I bought an Epson again, I missed the pure quality.
The better pigment ink handling, the possibility of using gloss pigment ink, the ever lasting print head.
As you stated, the Epson technology is some years ahead of Canon.
In the past I too had...
The Epson paper trays are a bit flimsy, not the Canon ones. Of course that only goes for the low cost home printers, the Epson Pro printers are of top quality.
Another disadvantage of the Epson is the ink use, much ink get lost by automatic head cleaning. The problem is not a big issue for us...
I'm satisfied with the PS5.
If you are using PS professionally then you have to buy it. I assure you it's worth the money.
But if you are using it only for an extended hobby, then it is much too costly. Download a cracked version...
I too noticed that Canon easy photo print always crops the photos. So I use the Epson Easy photo Print. With that program you can choose to have the photos cropped or not. Uncropped photos get a white border. The Epson program works with Canon printers as well. The program can freely be...
Here in the Netherlands the cartridges are on offer from July 28. The Cartridges for Canon and Epson are €3,49 and the HP cost €3,99 per colour. I assume Lidl adjusts the prices to other offers in a country, reason why the Dutch are better of.
The pgi-5/cli-8 ink set is the right choice for the iP100 printer, as Peter said.
I think the colours are the same, because the OCP handbook recommends this ink for that printer.

Refilling is very easy. Just slowly drip ink on the felt in the outlet hole of the cartridge. When the cartridge appears to be full, remove the overflow with a tissue and... ready.
But there is no resetter available for these cartridges. So you have to switch off the ink counter of the refilled...
This is a refillers forum, so members usually don't buy ready to use cartridges.
I buy non Oem cartridges every once and a while, but most of those products are of poor quality. Cartridges for Canon appear to have a bad flow. Cartridges for Epson often give clogging.
The only brand that is...
The good news is that now you can buy OEM ink in bottles...
Maybe we can get around the code problem. First we can use the codes that are visible on Peter's photo. Or we can go to a big store and make photos of the codes on the bottles (if they let us).
The warmth of the light is measured in Kelvin.
Tungsten: color temperature is 2900 Kelvin. The light is yellowish. Halogen light is a bit cooler, 3200 K.
Standard D50: color temperature is 5000 K. This is the normal daylight outdoor. The light is supposed to be white, but looks bluish...
