iP5200 advantages vs a new printer (eg. iP4920)
+ Faster refilling (larger cartridges)
+ Easier refilling (transparent cartridges)
+ Safer refilling (resetters are available right now and the iP5200 is not designed to self destruct if you use top plugs)
+ Less noise
- Slower
- New printhead...
That's the reason they got my attention. Most articles about printer inks in mass media publications are just trashing the aftermarket vendors.
This one didn't.
In regards to papers, I have found that while ink/paper combinations can vary greatly in photos (eg. HP photo papers would provide...
PW, at least sell your old iP5200 on eBay. I believe there will be a lot of users who have a different opinion about its current value and hopefully you won't regret it when you start refilling Canon's new mini-cartridges again and again and again.
I think stratman, despite a bit angry, does...
Tom's hardware has published an interesting article with advice for evaluating the quality of your ink and paper. The ink part is obviously focused on refillers which makes it more interesting.
They had also published a comparison of inkjet papers a few months ago. This is a very interesting...
Yes, it's a very interesting documentary. It's also easy to understand as most of the reports and the interviews are in English.
I would see some use in planned obsolescence in pushing a quicker adoption of innovative technologies, IF the companies were willing to take the responsibility of...
This happened to me when I was using low quality inks and/or top filling method but once I dealt with those issues, large volume printing (mostly black text) was no longer a problem.
Yes, you can print your documents using photo paper settings. The large black cartridge will not be not used.
Also keep in mind that you can buy a new printhead if your current one is irreparable.
Perhaps the nozzle check results are trimmed to the visible results since the pigmented nozzles are blocked.
I think dlc1701 should follow stratman's cleaning instructions ASAP because the more this printer is used the more the blocked nozzles are put to strain.

It will update your visual C libraries and it has a chance of fixing your error.
I could not find new absorbers, so I had cleaned my MP750 pads with warm water, detergent and chlorine. Then I dried them for 2 days under the summer sun. I did not notice reduction in thickness (they fitted perfectly) and this great machine still works fine after many years of service.
If your needles are long enough to allow for the German method, then use the German method and you don't need to cover the drill hole. If your needles are not long enough, then find a source of long needles. Sharp if possible.
I prefer to reset before refilling.
Original cartridges are the...
If you replace your refillable cartridges with a full set of OEM cartridges (even your depleted ones), does this message still appear ?
edit: are your refillable cartridges these ones (video on the bottom of the page) ?
Total:168ml (21 ml for PGI-5BK x3, 10.5 ml for CLI-8BK x3, 10.5 ml for CLI-8C x3, 10.5 ml for CLI-8M x3, 10.5 ml for CLI-8Y x3) at US $26.99 ?
Expensive. But if you like their refill system and it works with a syringe (you have to ask them about that) you can buy it and after you finish their...
You are right in regards to profiteering, but I believe it is ultimately a consumer issue. Once consumers figure out how expensive their inkjet really is, once they understand that their $50 printer requires cartridges that exceed the cost of the printer after a few photos and a few duplex...
I got an interest in this thread because I had some experience with laminating Greek icons using a low cost laminator: it does make the colors look better, but without professional laminating and cutting tools it takes a lot of time and the final result looks home-made because the edges have to...
Apparently those Brits support such a modification. And a Greek store as well!.
I've contacted the Greeks asking them to post a response to your question in the forum as they probably have more experience on the issue [than myself!]. The fact is that you may not get a response for this...
telv, I don't know if you can refill your printer with pigmented-based inks but they would probably solve the issue of water smudging.
This image shows the water resistance of Canon OEM dye colors -- the only only color that resists the water is the pigmented black.
I believe you are correct...
