I ground a point on one of my blunt needles and filled a non-oem, black, 3e tank.
It's certainly cleaner inasmuch as there's no 'blow back' from little inky bubbles coming out of the refill hole and no wiping up.
If it works out I will consider trying it with a full set.
It would certainly...
On a non-oem cart, the filter extends 5mm into the main sponge.
A needle coming in from the right will have a problem.
It's not possible to 'feel' a needle across the floor. It has to be by guess or by god and hope you hit the reservoir.(or go through the filter)
I was looking at the refill method where the long needle is passed from the sponge to the reservoir and I could not make out if the needle was passing through the sponge which rests on top of the exit port.
It looks like the that needle has to 'feel' it's way through the sponge and hope that it...
I think there is always ink at the print head (unless the supply is blocked).
Seems to me that the initial 'pull' from the clean cycle charges the system. The only thing keeping the ink from flowing out of the system is that the system is in balance.
Note my own experience of trying a refill in...
I have a dud i850 which has had it's head apart more than once and have not noticed any change in the symptoms.
I notice that the head securing screws have a limit depth built in, inasmuch as it's physically impossible to get the screws past a certain point because of a 'shoulder' built into the...
You can't beat a 900 series HP Deskjet.
I recently picked up a HP 940c at a thrift store for $5.00
Look for one that still has all three 'fingers' that eject the paper. This one uses a 78 and a 15 cart and prints as good as my IP5000:just slower.
Actually, when it comes to text, it's better...
If you used different cyan carts then it wouldn't be the sponge.
You can interchange two carts and see if the problem stayed with the cyan slot.
You can also pull the carts and see the colours on each screen.
The head cleaning sucks ink from the entire head at the same time.
Removing the head...
I use Hobbicolor ink in Hobbicolor and OEM BCI-3e carts in an ip3000 and ip5000.
Neither the original formula WC-3eBK pigment nor the newer PMD-BK leak through the head.
I have used a 50/50 mix of pigment black and photo (dye) black in the 3ebk carts and there are no head leaking problems.
The ink-into-the-tank bit is easy. It's the damn-things-wont-do-a-nozzle-check that's the pain.
Both oem and third party refills have the problem.
Pumping ink into the waste tank from repeated cleanings doesn't really solve the problem. It just hastens the day when you have to throw away the...
It's not the removing or filling that's the problem:it's the inserting the refill back in that's the problem.
If that part can be eliminated then it's all tickety-boo.;)
My needles are blunt.I know they won't go through rubber.
They will go through that glue tack stuff, but the needle picks up some of the material and blocks it.
No problem if you are adding ink (except that a little bit of this stuff is now in the reservoir) but not so good if you were trying to...
Would an additional small fill hole upset the dynamic?
Could a needle sized hole on the sponge or reservoir side be used to refill in situ or would the additional air be enough to start the tank to empty?
EDIT:
You can't say I won't put my money where my mouth is.
Using an old print head and...
Does the vacuum pump have to' store and release' the vacuum?
Would a simple hand pump (brake bleeder?) and a mason jar with a nipple soldered to the lid work for single carts?
I was thinking mason jar as they are subject to vacuum anyway, but I don't really know what constitutes a practical level.
I agree with 'Defcon2k'.
If the tissue paper shows the cyan nozzles have ink (two cyan outside then two red, one yellow in the centre?)I'll stick my neck out and say that the cyan nozzle has an electrical fault. The nozzle check shows consistent lack of color in one area.I think a partial...
You did a nozzle check and only blue is missing?
Interchange the yellow and blue carts.
You know the yellow cart and the yellow nozzle are good.
If the trouble is in the blue cart it won't print through the yellow nozzle.
If the yellow cart won't print through the blue nozzle, then the problem...
