"Recon" is not a comforting word.
Mechanical/material properties (tensile/yield/elongation/hardness/fatigue strength/toughness) are important, or you have a crankshaft that barely gets you around the block...
I was only able to capture a video of the Big Boy, which was double-headed with UP's 844 (the "Living Ledgend", never retired) on the way from Cheyenne, Wyoming to Ogden, Utah to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Golden Spike! It's wonderful that the Union Pacific has seen fit to spend the...
Next Saturday, a very special "machine" (a fully restored and operational Big Boy) will be passing by my home...I'll see what I can capture to post here. Here is what she looked like before restoration.

1. Use ONLY OEM (Canon) CLI-42 carts for refilling. CLI-8 carts can be used (they are physically identical), but you will have to swap the CLI-42 chip(s) onto the CLI-8 cart(s)
2. You will require a chip resetter.
3. DO NOT REFILL the OEM yellow cart without cleaning it out VERY THOROUGHLY, or...
The bottom line...the most active ingredient in any print head cleaner is..
WATER!
Water is a very aggressive substance! Particularly when very pure. It dissolves ROCK!
If you have a print head with greasy deposits, use Ammonium Hydroxide. If you have hard mineral deposits, use Vinegar...
One "active" ingredient in Origional Windex is Ammonium Hydroxide. Original Windex has a pH of about 10.7 (at 25 degrees C). There's more to Original Windex...
Here's EVERYTHING that's "in it":

I did not recognize that there were multiple images attached to your post, and "focused" on the first one.
While clogging/blocking can occur on Epsons, this type of issue can also be caused by air-binding (air in the nozzle chambers rather than ink), particularly if the nozzle check "varies"...
IMO, It does not appear that any colors are "blocked". The brown(?) bar on the left side probably should be in shades of grey, like the top-most stripe.
Please post a nozzle check print instead of the "test" print.
Keep an eye on that printer! If it did not work "out of the box", quite possibly there is an undiscovered issue with continued reliable printing. Perhaps not. Use it, a lot! Particularly before the warranted period runs out.
Staples, WalMart, and other "fine" office supply stores sell pre-perforated paper just for this purpose, using an Avery template for Word. I use this card stock from these suppliers all the time!
The papers are designated for either Inkjet or Laser printers. Choose wisely...
Unexpected "programming".
Why not just leave the sensor active at all times (including a 'sensor test target' on the carriage to confirm it's always working) rather than "delay" it's rather important function??
