@turbguy thanks for the reply
so ur saying that the plastic tape is better than aluminium?
i've got plenty of the stuff!
i actually purchased aluminium tape after the advice given on the video :(
the german method with the hole in *defintely* has an effect
i can't see where i could have gone...
@Grandad35 thanks for the reply
i taped the carts exit with aluminum tape and refilled
leaking was still there, but controllable (but hugely messy)
EDIT: where can i get those clips in the UK?
+ rubber band?? can u give some links to videos that show how to do... i probably don't need now...
OK...
The same happened to all of the cartridges
The video I started with was this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaxI2QPWLWA
I've looked at other videos and they all use an orange clip before filling with ink
The above video didn't mention :(
Is this where I went wrong?
EDIT: where do I...
First time doing top refilling
Yellow ink cartridge leaking!!!
I suspect the others might leak as well
What am I doing wrong?
I followed octoink video on youtube
I'm using aluminium tape
BIG disaster so far :(
HELP!
I need to print urgently before midnight!!!
Thanks
Omar
I've decided to switch to top filling (after a reply on the forum)
Is it OK to start top filling a cart that I've been German filling?
Or do I need to start with a new cart?
Thanks
Omar
@PeterBJ thanks for the reply
yes: it was fibres
top filling? for some reason, i thought the german method was the best
i will do as u advise and get another cartridge
the problem with octoink is that the postage costs are too expensive (not the fault of octoink of course - it's thanks to the...
I used the big fat syringe and orange clip from Octoink to purge my PGI 520BK
This had been messing around for a long time - very hard to fill + I can never fill upto the top - always would leak
When I had clear water in the cartridge, I could see small bits of debri - I assume these were from...
They charged £1 some time ago at the car shop for 1 litre the last time I bought a few years ago
I'm sure they've put up the price
Where else can I buy a bigger quantity to get a good price?
Thanks
Omar
Always OK after 1 or 2 head cleans, but always fails again
I had a similar problem with the blue. Solution was to replace
Should I do the same? Or maybe try flushing the cart first and giving that a try?
Thanks
Omar
I *always* have trouble refilling the PGi-520Bk in my Canon MP640
It will take 60% ink in and then JUST refuse to take anymore
I've no idea what I'm doing wrong
It starts dripping out both outlets
Any ideas?
Thanks
Omar
@mikling thanks for the awesome reply. very educational. the only conclusion from which is that: don't buy new canon printers?
@The Hat thanks for the list. really useful. i did a quick check on amazon. ALL new canon printers seem to have the newer cartridge. am correct in saying this...
@The Hat, let me put it another way:
what new printer would you recommend that is easy to refill + gives good prints and lasts a long time?
the answer cannot be canon as they have the new cartridges (i assume)
let me know the answer
thanks
thanks for the replies
hmm.. so does this mean when buying a new printer, you should *avoid* canon and go with epson for example?
(assuming u cant buy one of the other older models)
normally, i always recommend canon and say forget other models!
thanks for the reply
i dont buy the bit about single use carts
the reason why there are 3rd party single use ones is because no one has bothered trying to crack them since it's just not worth it :)
surely ALL canon chips are meant to 'single' use anyway and are meant to be non-resettable?
i...
I'm looking for best practices to refill CLI-551 / PGI-550 cartridges
I assumed you could get the older transparent carts and swap chips
I looked under the newer cartridges and the underside shape is different
(Do you think someone told Canon??) :)
Thanks
Omar
@The Hat you are awesome!
i thought it was a pretty dumb question to ask :)
but i thought i'd ask anyway
don't need the large format right now...
but if you have... would love to have
thanks!
