They charged £1 some time ago at the car shop for 1 litre the last time I bought a few years ago
I'm sure they've put up the price

Where else can I buy a bigger quantity to get a good price?

Thanks

I used demineralised water sold for steam irons.
Maybe this was the reason I couldn't unclog the Epson :(

I think the method used for removing the mineral contents of the water makes no difference in print head unclogging. Both demineralized and distilled water are very pure. Unclogging usually takes something added to the clean water plus a lot of patience.

The price of 1 litre of demineralized water at a Danish supermarket is around DKK 10 or £1. I usually buy deminaralized water in 5 litres quantities at DKK 40 or £ 4. Maybe you can get a lower price per litre if you buy a 1000 litres pallet tank of demineralized from a supplier of chemicals for the industry?

What you got from the car supply store was most likely demineralized water.

The words demineralized and distilled are wrongly used interchangeably by many people who don't know the difference. Pumping cheap wine or fermented sugar water through a a demineralizing ion exchange filter will not produce moonshine, but ruin the filter.

Yes both types of cleaned water are perfectly OK for our purpose. Demineralized water is also used in chemical laboratories, and only when extremely pure water is needed distilled water is used.

I think refill shops use demineralized water. I think distilled water is difficult to find and will be more expensive than demineralized water.

To save on costs of purified water, I searched the web for a small scale reverse osmosis plus ion exchange water demineralizing plant, but it was so expensive that I would never reach break-even. Reverse osmosis can remove much of the mineral content, to prolong the life of demineralizing filters, so the both methods are often combined. Small scale water demineralizers are used by some very advanced aquarists, here is link.

I think that depends on the level of professionalism. Some low level refill shops may only have some gallon canisters with universal ink and a bunch of syringes and needles. Professionally remanufacturing of an ink cartridge takes much more equipment, and cartridge specific inks and cleaning fluids. Here is an example of some professional equipment for sale, and that is only a small machine.

Here is a short you tube video showing the steps in a professional remanufacturing of HP cartridges. It involves testing, flushing, drying by centrifuging, drying in a vacuum oven, refill using a vacuum process, test print and packaging. Note the amount of equipment involved.

Interesting video with all the work that occurs to refill a cartridge for resale. But that song... o_O Who knew refillers were thugs.
