I've been reading all this thread with great interest. A few days ago I received a new CIS system to install on my iP4200. This system is sold on eBay by a person whose ID is cis.supply.hk. Yes, he is in Hong Kong. The system is sold under the name CIS. Ink Supply, and it looks to be very...
Grandad35 just PM'd me asking about photos of the Canon Chip which I took apart in order to better understand the little PC Card's connections. I have been remiss in not posting these a long time ago.
Refer back to page 2 of this thread and scan through to see some earlier photos which show...
Tin Ho,
I suggest that you save your time and not pay any further attention to the proposed ink color testing or its results. It seems that you will not benefit from any information that might be provided.
The ink color testing will go forward as long as any useful information is being...
The simplest basis for a class action suit is the fact that Canon does not disclose prior to the sale that there is a requirement for the use of genuine Canon ink cartridges in their later model printers which use chipped cartridges.
Hey Ghwellsjr, whose side are you on?
I am only kidding! You know, your statements are quite correct, and they do make very strong arguments that Canon is doing the proper thing by adding the chips. But..............
It is also quite evident that Canon serves its own selfish financial...
John,
Here are two answers.
1) It is not hard at all to remove the chip from a Canon cartridge. You don't 'pry' it loose. You use an Exacto knife to slice off the top of the two plastic posts that hold the tiny circuit board which we refer to as 'the chip'. After slicing off the tops, you...
Mikling,
Thanks for the good clue about the links to "Mariotte bottle". I found a particular link which clearly elaborated on the abilities of the the Mariotte bottle. The link is http://lawr.ucdavis.edu/classes/ssc100/mariotte_bottle1.pdf .
You said before, "Be aware that the balanced...
Mobbarley,
Helping each other is enabled by this Forum. We owe thanks every day to Rob for hosting the InkJet Stuff Forum. I'm glad that your printer is up and running.
canonfodder
Mikling, I would like to know exactly what the "balanced pressure system" does so that I might understand just how the design works. This thing has my curiosity at full throttle.
Could you possibly describe how it is put together and just what goes on in such a system?
It is obvious that...
Mikling,
I presume you have removed the ball or pushed it into the tank and are using this plug to seal the ball hole. Right?
You didn't say where you got the plugs. Who, What, and Where, and what size or part number, etc.?
While others are guessing what might be wrong, I just want to try it...
Well, it looks like I have something to really be cautious about when I receive and install my CIS coming from Hong Kong. They do provide the alternative seals talked about here. They have an explanation for needing and using them, and would charge $5 or so if you just wanted to order them...
MORE ABOUT INK TESTING
Suppliers who make ink, or are committed to known makers of ink are most interesting, as they normally demonstrate the consistency that we need in order to make testing meaningful and worthwhile. The tests consume a lot of time, so we will not wish to test "unknown source"...
ghwellsjr,
Yes we will be interested in the Inktec inks. I don't know how popular their inks are, but upon examining their website, I see that they are a serious supplier and they claim to make their ink, not just sell it.
mikling,
We will sort out just which inks will be needed from your...
Websnail,
Your WAG and some thoughtful logic can turn into a scientific diagnosis with evidence to support it. It is always preferable to have some concurring independant information, from another persons trials or even from second and third printers of your own, but you seem well on the way...
Mobbarley,
Just one more thought. As long as we are guessing that something is jammed near #3 and #4 white rollers, try this trick to have a slight chance of fishing something out.
Remember how the white rollers lift for a short time soon after the printer is turned on? Well, prepare...
Mobbarley,
In my iP4200, with it OFF, I open the cartridge door and look in. The white rollers are all 'down' in contact with the black textured long roller beneath them. They may feel like you can turn them with a finger tip, but you can't. They feel like they might be turning only because...
Websnail,
Thank you much for the link to your troubleshooting check list and symptoms.
So far, it appears that a great number of CIS users have no problems, huh? I should be comforted. Why am I not?
Please tell us, with complete details, any clogging or other printing problems you have experienced during long-term usage of your CIS system.
Be sure to list all the details. CIS Maker, Printer Model, Ink brand and type, the Problem, and about how much printing or time before it showed...
Websnail,
Get a little more specific about your clogging problems. Just which printer and CIS or whatever was in use with which ink?
I presume you were using Image Specialists ink as you list, but you list multiple printers, so which.
When you buy Image Specialists inks, do you select...
Not really so, that you can, "blatantly copy a patented product for personal use", but that is a very common myth. Cases of pursuit against one individual making one item really are rather rare, but a case will be brought against an individual with a single item offense if very large dollar...
