See THIS THREAD for my reasons in buying this printer.
US $299 from B&H Photo/Video at time of posting this.
Federal stimulus and a boost to unemployment payments
due to coronageddon made this purchase possible,
while still banking extra monies.
The following is the review I posted to the B&H product page:
"I wanted to replace my old Samsung color laser, which became an unreliable printer after just a few hundred pages.
It was a steal roughly 10 years ago at around $250 new, and its output was(and is) great.
But I got tired of it coming to a ready state less than 40% of the times it powered up.
So, I went on the hunt for a replacement.
This Xerox machine came to the top of my list due to price, features, cost of toners and consumables, and footprint size.
It's taller than the Samsung, but the paper tray doesn't stick out a few inches from the front.
This Xerox adds features the Samsung doesn't have: copy, scan, fax, wireless.
It's very similar to a number of Xerox monochrome printers at my workplace, and I know the duty they're tasked with, and that they perform very well.
I was already familiar with their operation and performance, so I jumped on this one, on sale at $300.
Cost of toner is WAY cheaper than for HP models, from both OEM and third-party brands.
I've even found some eBay listings for 2 full sets of toners, plus 2 additional black, for roughly $50.
Some of the HP color lasers actually cost less than their four-cartridge set of OEM replacement toners!
Startup time & noise, speed, and normal operating noise are far lower than the old Samsung.
Output is likely finer resolution.
Photo-quality images print with very good detail and sharpness.
Wireless works great.
It's linked to my home router, making it cordless for my wife and I. No more plugging in to a printer to print from any of our computers.
I had some trouble with WiFi-Direct, perhaps because of user error, but through the router is working just fine.
Our purposes will use this printer sparingly, with the occasional printout or copy,
a DVD cover from time to time, and an occasional photo to give to somebody.
Given the use I see Xerox machines holding up to at work, against how much less use this one will get from us at home,
I'm fairly confident this will significantly outlive my old Samsung.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this printer's price, cost of operation, output quality,
noise level, and similarity to some workhorses by the same brand."
So, there you have it. We've had it for about a week.
It's a great machine that works very well, with very good color reproduction
and wireless capability. Just tonight, we powered it on for my wife to print
a return-shipping label from her laptop. WiFi was flawless, delivering the print
in about 14 seconds after power was switched on.
