There is an MS integrity app checking your system if you could upgrade to W 11

https://aka.ms/GetPCHealthCheckApp

The upgrade is supposed to be free for qualifying users and with an Microsoft account and an internet connection - a local account won't work anymore - that's what I get from recent publications/announcements - but all that can change until the final release - there may be driver incompatbilities - software problems - everything users got as well during the W 10 upgrades

I think you should not hurry to upgrade, unless you do it for experimental/educational purposes using an experimental computer, not your main computer.

Instead give Microsoft a year to iron out the bugs. I'm sure the new OS will be much better and more reliable then.

And the 10,000$ question: Will my good old Canon printers still work with the new OS?

a year or more - unless you need a particular new feature Win10 does not support.

Win11 will require a TPM chip - trusted platform module - and most likely a video camera in notebooks, tablets and alike.

There is no need to upgrade sooner rather than later unless you want to. Like I said in my initial post, Windows 10 lifecycle doesn't end until October 14, 2025.

I will downgra... Oops, I meant upgrade, to WIndows 11 when/if @stratman purchases a 3D printer.
( Never say never, but that's as close to never as it can be :D ).

Still running Win10-1903 and I plan to keep it this way forever,if I'm allowed to. Two years ago I stopped installing updates on Win10 and no problem at all. None of my programs has malfonctioned and no hardware component has been disabled. Instead, people who allow the system to install automatically the latest upgrades, more often than not had to face bugs and 'unforeseen problems', then wait for new patches to fix the issues, etc. etc...

As @stratman said, I don't see any reason at all to change, Windows 11 won't be any better than Win10 but for sure it will be more demanding on hardware.

I installed the MS PC Health Check msi app using Total Uninstall which monitors deletions and additions to files and the Registry during installation of an app. Using Total Uninstall's own uninstaller it can then remove more of the droppings left behind by the app's uninstaller routine.

Per usual, bloat code.
