Could this be a printhead alignment issue?

How do you carry out a printhead alignment? I have seen it ask me to do an auto alignment in the past but I thought I read somewhere it is better to do a manual alignment......

No, it's not an alignment problem. It's an electronics defect in the print head. Have seen many print heads like that and none was ever recovered.

I have another printhead from an IP4000 that I can try. I was having problems with the magenta nozzles being clogged so I did a thorough cleaning and hopefully it paid off and will work!

The printhead has been out of the Ip4000 for a long time drying, is there a way to properly prime it when I put it in the MP760? First a cleaning followed by a nozzle check to get the ink flowing into the head? I don't want to burn anything out by running it dry...

I called my supplier where I normally buy printheads from and due to the disruptions in Japan Canon USA is not releasing anymore printheads to US retailers until supply is back up and running in Japan. Just in case anybody is looking at getting a new printhead. Apparently they can only sell what ever supply they currently have and will need to wait for new stock....

A dry print head is the best one to put in a printer. It will probably do a cleaning automatically. You can tell because it takes a fairly long time to start printing. If not, you can tell it to do a cleaning manually. I also bypass the alignment until after I know the nozzles are all working.

You can get to the alignment process from the panel on the printer or you can do it from your computer screen.
