What Mega Tank Chromalife inks would work in a PRO-100?

Despite being on this forum for years, I suddenly feel this a naive/newbie type question. But here goes......

Is there any difference between, say, magenta Chromalife inks between printers? Or, are all the CMYK colors the same, printer to printer? It's hard to believe that Canon would alter inks for different printers.

Obviously, if they are the same, one would be able to refill at least some of the colors OEM. And if that is the case, what Mega Tank printers offer the greatest range? Meaning photo cyan, magenta, possibly light gray, etc. I print a lot of B&W, so black dye would be especially appealing.

I would suggest to choose the GI53 series: this is Chromalife 100+ ink in bottles. It has CMYK and Gray ink. For the photo/light inks you have to dilute the dyes with a clear ink base (normally 30% ink + 70% CIB).

The G620/650 Megatank printer is the only model using the Chromalife inks, but it does not come with light M or C inks, and not with a pigment black. All other Megatank printers use a variety of non-Chromalife inks - GI50, GI51,GI4900 with a CMYBK inkset, or with GI56 pigment inks for the GX6050/GX7050 but these inks are not the Lucia Pro inks of the higher end photo printers.

You might make your own. See this thread. But the recipe is intended for use with Epson printers. You could try asking if it is also suitable for Canon printers or can be modified to be used with Canon printers.

You can also buy it here, Maybe it is also available from Precision Colors?

Contact Image Specialists as mentioned in the octoink product description, or test the Chroma optimizer available by Precision Colors if you don't like to mix it yourself.
