Hello,

Does anyone have any recommendations for the continuous ink system for a Canon Pixma MP 830?

I've spent a few hours research online and here's what I've been able to find:

Echostore - $118.00
http://www.echostore.com/continuous-ink-supply-system-ip4200.html

Everest - $100 + $20 shipping

Supersmart Electronics - $55 + $20 shipping

Eureka Online: $85 + $25 shipping

Has anyone used one of the systems above or could recommend a better one?

Thanks,
mmdev

I have no experience with CIS and no opinion about them, but one of the founders of this forum does have a very strong opinion. You can read about it by clicking on the link near the top right of this page that says "Neil's Inkjet Page". Then go down to the link in the box that says, "HERE". Next, go down to the link below the box that says, "REGARDING Continuous Ink Systems or CIS please take this link and READ".

If, in spite of what Neil Slade says about CIS, you still want to give it a try, at least read this thread first:

We haven't heard the final word on using the new HP printers with ink tanks separated from the print heads, but they look like they have potential for being a reliable CIS.

My advice would be to go with Sam and pump him for as much info as you can possibly eek from him.. My own experience of CIS's (home built) with the MP830 has been on again/off again to the point that I've wasted far too much time on them..

Sam's had more luck from what I can tell so he's worth giving a nudge and seeing what breaks free.

I was considering a CISS for my MP510 and emailed Sam about it. He was quick to reply and very helpful. He sent me instructions specifically for the MP510 as the ones on the web were a bit vague (incl several models).

The only problem I had with the info was that it sounded like he used dye ink in all tanks. MP510 has a PGI-5
black tank and three dye tanks (CLI-8 M-Y-C). It's a four tank system.

After considering it I decided not to because I don't print nearly enough to justify it. The ink would probably get mouldy waiting for me to print. The existing carts are easy to refill and work just fine. The loss of the ink monitor does not bother me, it is not as accurate as it should be and the carts are easy to check.
