PC claims that their inks deliver the best color match so that you won't need to get other icc color profiles, but you have another option - use genuine Canon inks -those bottled inks of the megatank printer G620, these are bottled and genuine Chromalife 100 inks called GI-23 at a very affordable price. There were several threads running just about this subject recently - GI-23 inks in a Pro-100 - search for GI23 or GI53 - the GI53 is the same ink - with a different number for Europe

OK so Precision Colors, or purchase the specific megatank inks GI-23, and clear ink base to mix the photo/light inks. Is the black ink in the Pro100 CLI-42 a pigment ink then with the others dye? I see Black, Cyan, Grey, Magenta, Red (not needed) and yellow available. Is anyone actually doing this with a canon pro100 here that can report if this has been successful? I find this sorta fascinating and supports my love to repurpose.

Pharmacist: "I would suggest to choose the GI53 (GI23 in U.S.) series: this is Chromalife 100+ ink in bottles. It has CMYK and Gray ink. For the photo/light inks you have to dilute the dyes with a clear ink base (normally 30% ink + 70% CIB)."

Of course a custom profile is mandatory if you want colors as close as possible to OEM CLI-42 carts,

Is the black ink in the Pro100 CLI-42 a pigment ink

The GI-23/53 black ink is a dye black, the G620 printer is advertised as a photo printer for A4 size - with dye inks, other Canon printers come as multipurpose units for photo and office type needs with an additional pigment black ink - for copy paper .
