Both models won't print on CD's , both use a 4 color Durabrite pigment ink ink set, there should be 3rd party cartridges available, or cartridges for refill

The fact that both printers use a 4 colour pigment ink set makes me think that they are office printers, maybe not suitable for photo printing.

It's not clear what is really expected from these printers - are they already available for use, or on a wish list, and what are the base requirements - CD print ? or photo print ? or suitable as a general purpose combo ? And 'occasional photo print' could mean that the quality requirements are not that high, or it could mean that the actual photo print frequency is pretty low but the quality nevertheless should be high. So a photo printer which can handle as well CD print may be the right choice.

these models don't print on CD as mentioned earlier. The XP400 is phased out already. The WF325 uses T1251 ... cartridges, and when you google for 'T1251 refill' you'll get links to choose from e.g. with instructions https://www.inksupply.com/instructions/instructions_epson_T125x.pdf
but if CD print is important you need to look for Epson photo printers

@mrelmo, if you have a low tolerance for Canon printers then Epson shouldn’t disappoint you, I wouldn’t write off the Canon printer just yet, because you might not like what you’d wished for..
