I'm wondering if there's a way to wake my networked Pro 100. When the printer is on (solid white light) I have no problem printing from networked computers but if the light is off, I get the message that the printer is off line. Through the maintenance tab I assume that I can disable the power off and leave it on all the time but that seems a bit wasteful of energy.

Thanks

You can only wake up your printer when you have it connected by way of USB cable, as far as I know..:(

Hi,
I have my Pro-1 connected via Ethernet and it turns itself ON automatically when I send it a print job. It does NOT turn itself OFF however. There is some configuration in the maintenance tab for this. Maybe the Pro-100 works the same? Or maybe not?

Why I so settle for cables....rat's nests accepted. One less thing to bang my head for.

Strange, Brother printer wake up when I send it print job and the printer is self-asleep, meaning if you put to sleep mode manually it will not wake-up.

All my Canon printers are USB wired because it’s far too much trouble for me to use Cat 5 cables or Wi-Fi and they all will work individually or collectively, between 3 computers.

The dye printers will automatically turn on when they receive a print job but the pigment printers must be turned on with the manual button first before they will respond to any print commands.

All of my Canon printers however can be set to turn off automatically after the completion of a print run in the Auto Power Settings, in 5 to 60 minutes which ever time is best..

The OP wanted to know about network connection for his Pro-100. My Pro-1 (missing the 00) is network connected and it works differently depending on how it's connected. The network connection apparently disables the auto power off on my printer, as is documented. It DOES power on automatically in response to a print job, thankfully, since it typically spends several (long) minutes shaking inks and filling waste pads before doing any actual printing.

Perhaps someone who owns a Pro-100 and uses the network connection can try it and comment.

(Personally, I'm trying to get away from all of this network connected crap because of the security issues involved. I was already patching networking related security bugs 20 YEARS ago and it's only gotten worse. Wireless security? Just another oxymoron.)

Hmmm....none of my Canon dye printers - the only kind I own - awake with a print job. All hard wired via USB. No biggee, I just get the warning that the printer is offline. And then I have to spend untold amounts of energy to...to...to....push the On button.

But, if you have a network and wish to share the printer with a computer several rooms away, you cannot just "push the on button."
